Hi
Where in Florida are you, Im in the south east just outside Jupiter with a 70 & 71 TA ,, 2 Whites with Rotes Restorations all org ,,, just wheels on 1 ,,I allso went with the msd dist & 6 to cut down on ignition problems on road along with easyer starts, when the unitized goes we are stuck.but its a must to have and set aside This will be easy to put back to org when the time comes ,, Sounds like your going a step above keeping with all the OE GM parts this tells me how the car will turn out. would like to see the pics along the way ,I Guess I dont have the only early TAs around now LOL , Thanks for your time Bruce Beebe Last edited by 70&71 TRANSAM OWNER; 08-02-2010 at 08:48 PM. |

I am in Windermere, just west of Orlando and east of Clermont but get down south often. I am actually the 2nd owner of the car and bought it from a neighbor in Miami in 1978 when the car had 3,000 miles. Even now it only has 39K (miles). It was outside in the early years and unfortunatly accumulated some body rust (roof and rear qtrs) which really became evident when I media blasted the body. I drove it regularly until I tore it apart to paint 4 years ago. One thing led to another and it became a full nut and bolt deal since every replacement part I bought was not like the original. So I restored the original parts where I could (blast. replate, rechrome, rebuild, etc.). So aside from one rear quarter that was not an original t/a quarter the rest was cut and welded and metal conditioned and POR15'ed inside. The hood and front fenders were near perfect from an Arizona car (but were made perfect) doors had only a litle rust that was cut out and re-welded and the entire floor pan was perfect. I have certainly gone too far with this but it is turning out to be the best example of an all original car-better than anything GM turned out back then. Could not get the old lacquer paint so it is a high quality base coat /clear coat that was custom mixed to match the correct cameo white color. Send me your e-mail and I will send a few pic's. Also like to see yours. Not many nice ones around...

Hi
I allso Bought my first 70 from a neighbor back in 76,when I was just 15 ,the car was only 6 years old and in good shape ,This is when the prices were getting out of hand ,I had to pay a total of ,,,,800.00 eight hundred,,,,,for the car I had to cut every lawn in town but I got it ,, My neighbor bought the car new and never had it seviced outside of the pontiac dealer,,one nice car for high school Well after graduating in 79 I went down and traded the 70 in on a new 79,, I was kicking myself before we were out of the parking lot,It took another 30 years but I did buy another 70 along with a 71 withen 6 mo. I get more complement about those 2 cars than any car I have ever driven I still own the 79 the car still looks new, with only 58 K miles.I have been able to keep it insde since new, Take care and keep in touch. would love a few pics Bruce Beebe [email protected] |
