Hi all,
Just wondering if there are any other sources to try and figure out how many 68 GTOs were ordered the way mine was.

The guy that ordered the 68 GTO that I now own had a family so he ordered it with a bench seat AND the 4 speed transmission. I have seen a quite a few 4 speed GTOs and they all have buckets and a console.

I talked to the original owner, he lives just a couple miles south of my wife and I just west of the Minneapolis area. It turns out he wasn't the one that actually ordered the car but a friend of his did and apparently it took forever for it to come in and his friend got tired of waiting so he went out and bought a Camaro. At some point after that Moehring Motors in Hutchinson, Mn called the guy and said his GTO was in. He didn't need it since he bought the camaro so he called his buddy and told him about it and his buddy ended up buying it. It was amazing talking to the orginal owner and hearing his stories about being a young man whoopin it up with the GTO, after talking to him I can't believe the he and the car both lived through those days.

Anyways....just wondering if there is a way to find out how many 4 speed bench seat 68 GTOs were ever made. I am thinking it took a long time to get because it was an odd request but maybe not.

I have not heard of any certain GTO database that has a breakdown of exact numbers of options produced. Maybe there is one done by percentage of total production though.

I personally have had one (a 68 GTO) with bench seat/4speed, that was ordered with many performance options and few comfort/convienience options. I believe that it was done that way because the bench seat saved a few pounds over the buckets.

No database exists with that info that I know of.

I parted out a 68 GTO 400 HO 4spd. with bench seat years ago.
