spindle question
i just bought a 69 firebird. i was looking to change to disc brakes in the front. i have an original set that i bought to convert a 67 a body. i was looking on ebay to buy spindles for the f body. i see sets that say they fit both. i was under the impression that the f body spindles were taller. will the ones that i have (68-72 a body) fit? also i need a dash pad. after looking a little bit it seems a nice original is out of the question. do any of the repos fit decent?

The A-body spindle are the same as the F-body. the steering arm on the A-bodies is Front steer and the F rear steer. So unbolt the arms and swap sides, of use the exsitng f ones bolted to the new spindles.

I think the 2nd Gen F-bodies are taller.

There was a vendor called the Right Stuff at Norwalk. They have pretty good prices on the brake kits. By the way that is a pretty solid 69 you bought, should come out real nice when done !

thanks, i really wasnt looking for another car but ive allways liked firebirds and thougt it would be pretty hard to find one in that shape

I used a repop dash pad in my TA clone and was very pleased with the results. You can see a couple pics at http://www.cruzeware.com/1969_Firebi.../Interior.html

Be careful if you have to change the dash pad. I just did a pad and panel in my cousin's 69 and the new pads don't have the steel reinforcement core. The plastic oval clips don't have anything to expand against, nothin but the vinyl. It would be better to have an original one restored unless they are making them now with the steel core.
