Hello this is my first post so I'm hoping I am posting in the right part. I have a 68 LeMans and want to convert the taillights to Gto one's however i know the lenses will not fit and am wondering what all will be involved in changing them over. Thank you in advance for all your help.

This is not a simple task from a time perspective, but nothing terribly difficult in theory

Correct parts:

• GTO specific tail light buckets (Originals were fiberglass, aftermarket are plastic)
• Light sockets for aftermarket buckets
• Factory or similar grounding straps
• GTO tail light lenses

Process:

• Remove rear bumper
• Disassemble light assembly
• Before reassembly, you should thoroughly CLEAN the rust from the surface where grounds will be made (one of the biggest reasons for dim tail lamps)
• reattach bumper, align

The gto lenses will fit in the lemans buckets. Only issue is the lenses will not sit as deep in the buckets. Simply pull off old ones sit gto ones in, and use a small drill bit to drill correct hole location. Use some foam weather strip for cushion and mount em.

No one has ever commented on the lights and will same you a good $300+ for the buckets plus the time to take off the bumper and such.

I will be doing mine with GTO buckets in the future. I still need a bumper so, did not want to do all this twice (like I seem to do everything else).

I just noticed your thread. I have a 68 lemans that Need taillight lens for.I cannot find them. Would you consider selling the lens if you changed yours over to GTO? Please let me know. lemansone
