Not that this is related, but my buddy's Chevy the rocker lock nut split. Caused about the same issues. The engine had to be completly torn down, and redone. Parts wise was not that bad, but they re turned the crank and that led to new bearings, new cam, lifters, etc. Not knowing what was bent in the damage. The valve did not fall though, he got lucky.
He went roller after that.
