My dad's '70 vert, circa 1978, when he bought it (for $400!!!!). That's my little brother peeking around.



Me at the wheel. What a dork. I don't know what was the deal with the spotted pillow in the back seat, it came with the car, sometimes dad used it like a center armrest (non-console car).



Yep, dad drove it in the winter, those are snow tires! Looks like OG lug nuts, now that I look....you can thank Pennsylvania for the car-eating road salt



After a fresh coat of Pepper Green. Got a new LH quarter panel, seemed like frontend sheetmetal had already been replaced, probably got hit. Originally had a black top, I convince him to change it to a white top, he hated it, changed back. Car was 350hp, M20 (still had original shifter with backdrive linkage), green interior, power steering. That was about it. Learned to drive in this car at 13, great memories

Here's my first Goat, the '67. Yes, that's a broom holding up the (flat) hood. Didn't come with hood hinges. This was before my "no flex hoses" mandate But I only paid $350 for it in 1985, and it ran great!



Sadly, it didn't drive great. Bought it with blown spider gears in the (replaced) Chevy 10-bolt rear. I just stuck another junkyard Chevy 3.08 10-bolt for $35 to minimize hassle.



It had a '68 XH 400 in it, 3-speed trans with a Sparkomatic shifter (yes, the crappy stereo people), a Holley 600DP, don't remember that aluminum intake, and leaky headers. Oh, and you can't quite see the clear distributor cap



After a bunch of work. Car was Regimental Red under the Earl Scheib blue, RH door and front fender had been replaced. I added power steering ($35 at the pick-a-part), polished the aluminum slot mags (I was working at a tire shop), rebuilt the front end with the AC/wagon HD springs, hence the high front end), got a GTO hood ($40 at the pick-a-part, also white!), installed a 744 cam, ditched the headers and replaced the exhaust. Was still stuck with the 3-speed, which was starting to pop out of second.



Cool morning in San Luis Obispo. This was just before I sold the car to buy a '67 RS/SS 350 Royal Plum Camaro.

Bit Trek fan here too. And let's admit it, as ground breaking and influential as the show was, Nichelle Nichols was one of the hottest TV stars around! Yum!

I believe I read in one of the Star Trek books (about the making of the series) that Nichelle Nichols had a fling with Gene Roddenberry.



It was really a stretch back in the 1960's to have a female portray an officer on the bridge of a ship. Until then, females played the wives of captains, or mistresses, not involved with ship operations.

Roddenberry wrote the original Star Trek pilot and cast a female as First Officer (his future wife, Majel Barrett, who ended up portraying Nurse Chapel in the original series, and Lexwana Troi in the The Next Generation, as well as the supplying the voice of the ship's computer), but screenings showed that audiences were uncomfortable with a female in that role.

He then created a character called Uhuru, a black female (which was very controversial) as the Communications Officer. While many critics, decades later, claimed she was nothing more than a glorified secretary that took phone messages, her character was much more than that. She was a bridge officer, and commanded respect from the rest of the crew.

I loved almost all of the Star Trek franchises. Some took a little time to solidify, though...i.e. Sisko had to shave his head and grow some facial hair....Voyager had to move beyond the Kazan, etc.
