Yes, the exact date was 4/22/1966. I might know where the GTO convertibles is

This is a scan from the local newspaper so it's not a very good picture - it was taken at the Minnesota State Fair back in 1962. It's a black and white photo so there's no way to be sure, but that 1961 Bonneville on the right could possibly be the car I own today...it sure looks like it.

Stuarts comment reminded me of a similar claim that I can make:

It's hard to say from a black & white photo but this could be our '63 sitting behind Royal.

Some defining features:

Silver on the front header panels, surrounding the grilles
Silver paint around the body side trim
Body colored wheels
Standard (non remote) mirror
Royal sticker on the sail panel

Might be the same car sitting in the background of this first photo (behind Mr Wangers). My understanding is that there was a red car, a Silverleaf green car and our Nocturne blue car with this "Bobcat" paint scheme. I think the green car was used for the article.

Ever heard tell of Royal stenciling the letters "R.P." anywhere under the hood to indicate anything regarding the Bobcat package or for any reason at all really?

I remember that xmas very well. this is me with my new sizzlers set. it came with a hot pink 69 ta and a mach 1. my brother made fun of me because of the pink ta and so I put it up and never used it. yes I still have it packed away in my cedar chest that I put it in back then.

Those could be 1967 GTB's. I wonder if all of them are coupes.
One of my customers ran his '67 N.A.R.T. Spyder through the Monterey auction in 2013.
It did well. Like world record well.

Ha! a customer at my Dad's Skelly station had one of those Chevelles. He was an older man, around age my grandpa's would have been back then.
LOL, I heard him state several times that his 327 Chevelle had WAY too much power, and that it would be a dangerous vehicle for most to drive....

Well, I don't know about that. But having first hand experience with mine and with the GTO (both are bone stock), I'd say the only real deciding factor between the two would come down to rear axle gearing ratios and as such could go either way depending on which had which ratio.

But honestly, the 2006 and the wagon could run circles around both of them!
