69' GTO Judge
Hello Everyone, I'm doing a frame off resto on my 69' Carousel Red Judge and am almost ready for paint. I would appreciate if anyone can provide a breakdown of what type of finish the parts are supposed to be ie. Underhood - Black (Matte finish or Shiny). I know most of the car underneath is supposed to be like a chassis black but I want to make sure it's correct. Also what type of paint would be correct for the Carousel Red color.
Is there some kind of paint guide I can get off the web? Thanks for your help, Sam |

I used PPG DBU basecoat/clearcoat on my Carousel Red Judge. My paint supplier had the mixing formula on file. Just remember that it is the exact same color as 1969 Chevrolet Hugger Orange.
Go here: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorli...ntiac-pg01.jpg The bottom side of the hood, the inner fenders, firewall, radiator support, and the underside of the body should be semi-gloss black. |

69' Judge Paint
Hi UPC-WU2, thanks for your reply and helpful information. I have question regarding the Semi-Gloss Black paint....what % of Semi-Gloss should it be? 50, 60 or more.
Also on the Carousel red paint I've been told they used to use RM or Dupont. Do you find the PPG is better? I know they make a real good clear coat. Ha...imagine that - same as Hugger Orange. Maybe that's why this color doesn't look as good on a Chevy as it does on our Judges. S |
