just got off the phone with Amos customer service (1-800-448-3611).

I was told they don't give refunds, and that includes converting the unused portion of a subscription into a credit on Amos Advantage (i.e. they consider that a refund and won't do it).

the customer service rep told me my only option was to transfer my subscription to another of their existing magazines (i.e. one of their craft or coin or stamp magazines)

What do I need to do to talk to the right person?

I did not get the girls name who helped me, she gave me
an order # and i never thought to ask for her name.
I called on a monday or tuesday at arround 12:00 EST

Just be very nice & patient the person on the phone is just responsible
for answering the phones, they are not the reason PE ended.

I called the day after I got my issue (about a week ago now)
Either it depends on the person or they are loosing too many subscriptions
to keep giving out the advantage credits.

I better friggin get my book or I'll look for consumer fraud help.
I hope everyone else gets some satisfaction as well.

If they were honest & up front about PE ending by the end of the year
and promoted the new mag, I might have been dissapointed and accepted it
but what they did just has me MAD I dont even want to give it a chance.

Our magazine, PE went from like 64 pages of strictly Pontiacs to 3 pages coverage of a red 66 GTO. I really don't know how they would expect anyone that got shafted like that to be happy about it.

I'm guessing they aren't giving out any trades unless it's for another magazine to keep their readership levels falsely inflated to feed the BS to their advertisers, after all the advertisers are who really pay the expense of producing the magazine. The subscriptions are just giveaways to get their readership levels up so it looks to the advertisers like someone is actually reading their rags, pretty much the same way radio or TV advertising works. I only have 5 issues left anyway and then I believe I'll look maybe to Smoke Signals for another magazine.

Anyone see the editorial written in HPP about PEs demise? Tom DeMaro really took the high road when he talked about PE going down the toilet comparing it to GMs demise of Pontiac and looking to the those outsider of our hobby as though the Pontiac hobby and the Pontiac loyal are diminishing in numbers. I thought he really wrote a good editorial about it this month.

what ticked me out about the whole thing,was they sold me a 2 year subscription at Norwalk in august.i know they had to know what they were getting ready to do,but just screw the customer.

different publisher,but years ago had the same thing happen with Muscle Car Review,ended up getting Hot Rod and didn't like that trade either.

Tried to trade for a GTO book they wouldn't let me trade for books or merchandise. I could only get back issues.. Well being new I ask for back issues of PE

APE sells PYPES though!! The thicker mag is to make sure they make all their advertisers happy from all the magazines. Its a version of hemmings car mag now I guess.

I signed up for a one year subscription at the POCI convention in WV. The men working the booth were from an agency and did not work for PE or HPP. I wasn't happy with HPP in the past so I chose PE. I did get a nice T-shirt out of the deal too. I will cut my losses and use my remaining issues on making fires too.

If all of you crybabies would stop your bellyaching and whining about how much you hate the new magazine (after only one issue), and send your constructive criticism to Amos, maybe Auto Enthusiast will evolve and maybe improve over time.

I don't like losing PE or Musclecar Enthusiast, however, I have no other recourse but to write to the editor of AE and express my dissatisfaction with the content of the new, consolidated mag and make some suggestions as to how my remaining subscription run could be editorially enhanced.

I also suspect that when the autonomous titles were homogenized into AE, Amos took a look at the subscriber numbers and worked the content of the new mag to most closely match those ratios. Unfortunately, it looks like PE had the smallest sales numbers of the stable.

Again, voicing your disappointment to the Pontiac faithful here on the forum will not help heal the wound. Send an email to the Amos editorial staff with a well thought out message. Make it clean and courteous. Here's the address:

I didn't even know PE went under, got the AE mag thinking I'd been added to someones mailing list for a trial subscription. I didn't like it and threw it away.

But, my subscription for PE ran out with the Jan issue anyway. Got lucky I guess.

I called already, as well as E mailed to show my dissatisfaction and also sent a link to this thread as well as told them about it on the phone. I believe I made them quite aware of my as well as everyone who has posted on this thread that no one is happy with the substitution of AE. I did this as soon as I received the POS in the mail.

Everyone that is PO ed should do so also. It only takes a minute to E Mail or phone and maybe it might change something or maybe not, but as with any publication, the numbers mean everything. If you don't communicate something to them they automatically assume (Yes we all know what it stands for broken down) that your happy with the crap they jammed down your throat.

A few guys that post at Trans Am Country and 78ta renewed or subscribed to PE at the T/A Nats this year. I'm sure many other Pontiac guys did the same at other Pontiac events over the summer. Now everyone is stuck with this "me too" multi-make car magazine that they don't want. I bet the "other" guys, Corvette, Mustang, Mopar, etc., are just a mad as we Pontiac guys are over this. I would guess that a huge group of people won't be renewing their subscriptions when the time comes.

I let the know as politely as possible,
I asked the girl on the phone nicely to end my subscription.
If that does not let them know i am disatisfied I dont know what will.

Amos never had the courtsey to write me a letter to tell me the subscription deal
was going to change so why should I waste my time writing them to hopefully
convince them to polish the turd they forced on me?

I got my Cars & Parts Corvette Book from them and I figure I have a good read for awhile, I'll miss Pontiac Enthusiast & Cars & Parts and I told them that.
No ammount of coverage on new Challengers, Mustangs & too many ads
will replace that for me.

I'm done and Amos knows it, I told them Politely, which is more than they did for the subscribers.

In my opinion Amos is soon done, and I think this new magazine is just a way to honor the existing subscriptions as cheaply as possible
with out offering a full refund, they cant afford it.

Would you kindly exchange the remaining subscription of "Auto Enthusiast" magazine to back issues (preferably 2007 any month you choose) of "Pontiac Enthusiast" magazines. Im sure there is a reason for abruptly ending "Pontiac Enthusiast" and Im sure that you felt it was for the best. However I own a 1973 Pontiac and since there is no dedicated Pontiac section in your new magazine and your "Classic" section covers only models up to 1972 , "Auto Enthusiast" does not offer any real entertainment value to me. Im just not interested in reading about cars I have no vested interest in. I believe I have only another 3 issues or so left on my PE subscription so if you could send me the 2007 "Pontiac Enthusiast" issues of your choice I would consider your obligation to my subscription fulfilled. Thank you for taking care of this matter and good luck with your new title.

Dear Mr Jewett,

I received my copy of your first issue of the combined "Enthusiast" magazine today. I would like to give you some feedback on the content and layout in the hope of contributing to a better publication.

1. I am, and most other people I know who read the Enthusiast series of magazines, into classic cars. Particularly Musclecars, but any interesting cars built before 1980 would be what I would like to see.
What I am not interested in reading, is article after article on late model cars and how to accessorise them.

2. I read Musclecar Enthusiast and Pontiac Enthusiast, the content of both of these two publications has not translated well to your new format. There was almost nothing in your magazine of any interest to me.

3. The layout of the magazine is not as easy to read as the previous Enthusiast magazines were, an example is the use of red text on a black background in the story starting on page 42. I'm 50, and using a dark colour text on a black background just makes for an annoying read.

4. The amount of advertising content in your magazine is staggering. It reads like a full colour catalogue with a few small articles scattered between the advertisements. This is not something that I would pay for if looking at a new subscription.

5. I'm saddened to see a return to the wasted pages of classified advertisements at the rear of the magazine. I've never used these ads to locate parts or cars when they used to appear in other magazines, I would simply skip past those pages. I was happy when they were dropped. Given the scope of the Internet, I research and source parts and services through forums, recommendations and on-line websites.

I understand from friends who have directly contacted your magazine, that you will not offer any refund of the remaining subscription from the cancelled magazine.
That raises an issue which I find to be approaching one almost of fraud in that there have been numerous people signed up at events during the summer when your company has been running big subscription drives for the original magazines, e.g. Pontiac Enthusiast. Some of these people never even received one issue of PE, instead their first issue is a magazine they did not want or subscribe to. I suggest that Amos Publications were well aware for some extended period that they would be closing these magazines and combining them into one publication. I consider it unconscionable behaviour to sell a product that you were fully aware you would not be able to deliver, then refuse reasonable requests for refunds.

Since I have only a few issues left before my subscription runs out, I'm am not going to ask for a refund.....I simply hope that feedback from your readers prompts a better magazine which is more targeted at the intended audience,

i.e....Classic (pre 1980) cars....not late models.

called amos again they could care less. they are tired of hearing complaints. i ask for a refund -answer NO, i ask for back issues of pontiac enthusiast they said NO. they have got me for the next 6 months.
