I sometimes wonder myself. At the time, though, the extra four cents per gallon was more than a family guy like me figured I could afford. After all, premium gas was almost forty cents a gallon!! In fact, I took a ride in a buddy's '67 GTO not long after we got the Tempest and my next car was a GTO--a 'used '68 (see other picture). So, finally, I came to my senses. Don't laugh--I almost ordered the Tempest with the standard OHC six which was new that year or the year before I think and really being pushed by Pontiac. I never regretted the 326, though. I won many a street race on University Avenue. I regularly beat any 327 Chevy.

Interesting to note that Caroll O'Connor was a radical Liberal in real life, as much so as Rob Reiner (Mike Stivic) was.

Sally Struthers put on a ton of weight just after she left "All In The Family", but there were a few episodes where she was smokin' hot, especially when she wore hip-hugger jeans.

Here she is back in the day, away from her character Gloria Stivic.

Thanks for posting these Lloyd. what is the story on this ad? Was is used commercially? I have never seen any advrtisements for a '71 GTO in normal publications.
No wonder sales plummeted on this great car.

"Mike" (Rob Reiner) was his son-in-law; married to "Gloria" (Sally Struthers).

Great picture of Eddie Hill's dragster at Hobbs. That track is still open and I may try to run there next summer. It may be an eighth-mile track. I'll have to check their website.
