You can buy the tail panel after market now. Very good quality part also. Its actually one gage thicker than the original.

I have passenger and driver quarters Off a 1972 Firebird Esprit, both of them have rust around the back glass and lower rear quarters have been replaced with patch panels. The rear panel you are looking for is availible through Goodmark Industries and it is a very nice peice. I just purchased one and had it installed on one of my firebirds.The only thing about the rear panel is that it is only the outer skin no inner peices.

looking for NOS parts since I got this far. There has to be some quarters and tail panels somewhere. Contact me if you have any 71 T/A sheet metal. Thanks for the leads. Has anyone tried the header panel behind the tail panel, and how good are the repro tail panels?

Yes I agree the good mark repop tail panels are very high quality as I have purchased one also.
