AutoMeter or VDO. Years ago I was working on a engine management system using oil pressure transducers (senders). In the automotive grade (as opposed to the costly instrument grade), the VDO senders were the best I tested.

Already have an in-dash factory style tach.

autometer has a plastic universal mounting pod that is "enclosed" on 4 sides - top / bottom / L / R, basically like the metal ones with a skirt about 2 to 2.5" extending back. that may work for you in attempts to keep the back side of them from being seen.

i think it's supposed to mount on top of the dash, but you could flip it so it's upside down and mount where HWY has his and get the same result. it's flat faced, but you may have enough room for the angle adapters.

of course it would take some custom fabbing, fun with a dremel and/or sandpaper.....

edit - ooops, never mind. i see its NOT flat faced, there's a slight angle to the holes, and if you flip it upside down they'll be facing slightly away from you....so angle adapters would be REQUIRED to at least get them facing straight, if not canted towards the driver.

I'll take you guy's word for it though to go ahead and get some quality gauges and be done with it.
I really like the angled face pod under the dash. I can make that look stock.

+1 to AutoMeter gauges.

For the oil pressure, I did away with the plastic tubing and went with adapters and braided line. 90* radiused hose end under the distributor and a regular connection to the adapter on the gauge. Sanitary install and no leaks.

I believe 3/8 NPT. It can be a PITA if it's never been removed.

I just installed a set of Speedhut gauges in my '65 Tempest. Very high quality and they have lots of options including color choices, sizes, even a GPS speedometer. They are backlit too with very easy installation. I haven't started it up yet though.

Speedhut stuff is SWEET! Not many know of Speedhut, it's like Classic, they come from the marine world.

Ok, Greg, my mind is slipping with age! The gauge pods I had were a 3-pod and a 1-pod, and the 3-pod was a top mount, which means the angle of the openings are the opposite direction they need to be when you mount them from below (it ends up upside down).

Soooo, felt bad I built up your hopes, so I built a custom gauge harness to make up for it. I used that flex-loom, so it's tight against the wire, or group of wires. used shrink wrap to terminate the ends. On the dash side ( top-left piece of pic) , have 2 weather packs, one for the senders and engine ground ( bottom-right piece ), one for dash light power and key-on power ( 2-pin connector with yellow and orange wires ). Also, did a brain dump and drew it on paper for a schematic.

Also included a push-grommet that you can use to enter the housing for the loom to gauges connetions. ( you can use the weather packs to unplug and remove the gauges with the lower dash ducting.)

The VDO gauge is a vision electric analog gauge, part # 310105:

The wiring diagram is available online. It's basically a sender lead, a key-on power lead, and the bezel light plus & minus, fyi.

Couldn't find the 45 degree angle fitting for the oil sending unit, know I bought like 3 of them, but are probably in a pile somewhere burried.If I should dig one up in the next week or so, I'll send it.

I say order the gauge pod from egauges.com, and compare the prices between egauges and summit. Remember to order the 'left-side' type if you're mounting below the dash like I did. (probably part number POD-007 )

So, I need to get an electric temp switch (sending unit) that's calibrated to the gauge you sent?

Once you hold it in your hand, you'll see how it all plugs in too. I need the practice doing harnesses, have a few I need to do coming up, so, nice trial run for me! All it will need is a few spade terminals at the gauges themeselves, and it's done. I figured that will probably have to be done after it's fished through the hole in the gauge pod. The engine side of the harness can be fished through the firewall grommet, or a passthru of your choice. It's only the ring terminal ends that need to go through, so IF you make a new hole, it can be small. You will see it wednesday.

You can just tap off the cigar lighter light for illumination + , and the gauges will then dim with the rest of the panel.

Yeah, I dug, thought I had a couple extra sending units, but no-go. I'll have to order a spare or two now that I figured that out! For you, order the # 323900 'kit', it has the reducer fittings and adapters. That's like 23 bucks, or shop it, can get it cheaper.

Oops. Just realized I put a ring terminal on the water temp end of the harness, needs a slide-spade. Those you can get with the factory looking end in the Help! section at the auto parts for like 3 bucks. (Or just used the terminal supplied in the sending unit kit.)

The matching Oil PSI gauge is part number 350106, and the sending kit is 360086. This is the 0-100 psi one, they make a 0-80 one too, but figured you'd want the 0-100. Shouldn't need an adapter, but if you do, they are available at the auto parts, no problem.

I had already researched the sending unit numbers and the oil pressure gauge. We came up with the same products so I guess I'm good to go there. I'll probably get them from egauges since they are the only place I found the correct pod. May as well combine the shipping. Plus, Summit charges me tax and they also have a bad habit of informing me that something is backordered and expected next September after I get the partial order.
I have plenty of spare electrical connectors, wire and stuff like that. I've been in the electronics repair field, in one form or another, continuously for nearly 30 years.

Sounds like you have it covered, and can critique my harness too! Heh-heh! That flex-loom will melt under high heat, keep in mind, but will be good as long as it doesn't lay right on the exhaust crossover.

I just checked tracking and they claim it was delivered on Friday....but I haven't seen it. I figured it was delayed by the ice storm. Mail hasn't even been delivered in a lot of places since last Saturday.
I'll check around the house today to make sure they didn't stick it somewhere crazy, like in one of my cars.

Ok, found it day before yesterday. Didn't have a computer at home to let you know.
If I hadn't checked tracking to see that they had listed it as 'delivered', I might not have found it until spring.
It was on the ground, next to the garbage can way, way up by the road. My garbage can is a hundred yards from my back step, where they usually leave stuff. Luckily, it was in a plastic bag at least.
I guess they were afraid that they'd get stuck in the mud and ice going up my long drive.
Everything looks great. I really appreciate it. Your wiring job looks factory and I would have thought it so if you hadn't stated already that you put it together.

PS- What's the thread size of the opening on the intake water crossover? The one on the passenger's side that the TCVS usually goes into?
