Not that I can find. Many years ago, I took all the shoes off of all my cars plus all the extras I had laying around & turnd them into the local heavy duty brake repair shop. I had all of the relined & had them bonded, not riveted. I found on my cars, when the shoes wear out, the rivets destroy the drum. When a bonded shoe wears down till it is metal to metal, you know it instantly. When it wears down to the rivets, you dont hear it till the drum is toast. Call around to any local "industrial" brake shop, they should be able to fix you up. Of all the sets I had done, only have one set left. Need to turn them all in again!

Default 62 brakes

Try calling Parts American in Minneapolis and Duluth Minnesota....1-888-399-7278. They rebuild all kinds of brake shoes. Currently they have a deal on ebay selling all eight relined shoes for around $50.00. Don't know if they need cores.

I don't know if they are the same, but I ordered shoes for my 63 from Kanter. 60 bucks, and 15 bucks for a spring kit.

Default Corvair shoes.

Ironically, I have been working on this issue. I have too been taking my shoes in to have new material bonded , but is costly.

I have purchased corvair shoes from the local automotive store (O'reilly's Auto)relatively cheaper ~$30/set, and noticed the even though they are the same size as tempest, the link pin recess is deeper then the tempest shoe. However, you can purchase the proper hardware new form your auto parts store along with the starwheel adjuster (H12 universal hardware kit)as it needs the wider slot for the thicker metal of the the shoes.

The tempest cylinder links (pins) are only 1 5/8 inch long and the corvair are 2 inch. I believe the shoe set I'm using is part#189, currently priced at $17.99, 2" cylinder link H1414-2.

Now....if we can only get those dang drums reproduced at a reasonable price. Any luck on the ranger drum interchange?

+1 I used Kanter for all of my braking & suspension needs when I still had my 1962 Pontiac LeMans Convertible. They dont carry brake shoes but everything else. http://www.kanter.com///index.aspx?T...t=0&MSb=0&Prc=

I think I bought the shoes off of eBay if I remember right. This auction is up right now for 61-63 Shoes.

I was able to find shoes from ebay n.o.s from a guy name Joe Wheat. Locally here, Hagens Auto parts I think sells shoes also. I had them rebuild my master and wheel cylinders. I recommend them, thou it's a small operation, so it may take some time to get parts.

Drag racing. An adrenalin rush like no other. It felt like going into combat, tasting your first beer, and losing you virginity, all in about 8 seconds.

Default shoes

Try Northwest Auto Supply in Michigan. I have the fronts that I took off to do a disc brake conversion. Seems like they were in good shape. PM if interested.

Praise dyno brake in Texas can do them. $100 an axle.
All the nostalgia drag racers seem to have good success with their linings.
