Stopped by today and visited with the original owners of my 66 Lemans. the car has been in my family for 30 Years this month! (I've owned it since April 1983) he loaned me some pic, and is gonna dig and see if he has anymore. these 3 pics were taken in the late 60's

and then traded the 63 Cat, in for this new 66 G/P and then bought my Lemans for his wife to drive! the last new Pontiac they bought was a 1978 Phoenixs (X- body(nova) style) which he said was a rare car in that he ordered and recieved it in triple black, that option wasn't available in the books, so it was a special order combo. that car tragically met it's demise in a rear end collison in the late 80's

No so vintage as the rest but here's a photo I just found of my 79 Formula. Still has the original crappy Uniroyals on it. Car was repainted all black after 2 buffings that burnt the paint getting Anchor Mtr Frt's blue enamel off it. Now I've got to find the photos of it the day I brought it home brand new from the dealer.

One is a pic of the running gear from my 66 GTO transplanted into the frame of my 34 3 window ford. Circa 1968. My brother totaled the GTO some months before and I bought it back from the insurance co. for $300. Two are of my 1st hot rod circa 1961. Last is a pic of my cousins 1st hot rod, a plymouth with a studie engine circa 1959.
Jack.

They are both cool. the 55 of course is much more extreme. The 67 is fairly typical of what was around in the 70s. It was very popular to have a raised muscle car until the very late 70s when the handling thing came about and the trend started to lower them. Up until then, nobody wanted a lowered car except the low rider types. Most everyone had a raised car, maybe not that much but, lift kits sold very well for many years..

Where I'm from in NY we never raise em like that GTO. We did use Gabriel airshocks for the rear tho. When the rage hit for raising a vehicle it was in the 80s for pickups and the SUVs like Bronos and Blazers and vans. I never go into that. For me, I sat high enough in an 18-wheeler. LOL

Here are a few of my '64 GTO. In 1965 at Union Grove Drag Strip in Wisconsin. Car ran a best of 13.29 @109.75 with the original 389. With the 4 barrel AFB, it ran a best of 13.65.
The next pic is after a couple of paint jobs in Don Miller Pontiac during a Pontiac Car show in 1984 or '85. The last picture was taken traveling to the POCI show in Denver, 1985. One year later, the car was destroyed when my house burned down. But, the engine and trans are going in my current '64 GTO restoration.
