Cool More incorrect Ebay auctions - Ram Air II

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123

Story - guy posts intake for 1968 as Ram Air II intake. Auction results show lots of dollars for this standard piece (9794234). I send note congratulating his marketing efforts and then pointing out that there were only two intake numbers used in 1968 and no specific RA II piece. No bad words, no attacks.

I receive a nasty gram telling me that the 9794234 intake was ONLY used on the RAII and to get a book, get my "fax" straight and to grow (sic) testicles to call him about it. He sounds like he wants to fight... LOL

So remember, guys - each of you with a std 1968 intake (not the early 9790140) now has a RAII intake that was only installed on RAII engines! Lots of $$ to be made!!

I Love the uninfomed!

Surprising that he got that many bids on it considering that even if it was something special, his 2 pics show no detail whatsoever to validate the date or part number.

With a G date I would have to bet that particular intake was actually installed in a 69 production model......just sayin....

I have a C088 that is a 9790140 and a C198 that is a 9794234 so the change over date is somewhere in that 10 day period. I have E208 and a (H198, a 69) also.

I have approximately 20 intakes, mostly 68 with a couple 69 mixed in. I'll check the dates tomorrow.

I have a couple intakes from each month of 68 production... never paid more than 40.00 for one, sell them for 75.00. Little did I know!

Like the heads, the D208 & D228 castings are the ones most likely on RA II motors.

Must have been part of the RA II STEALTH program build - after 40 years it's still hush-hush!

I keep all my RA II intakes under my bed. My pet Rattlesnakes keep them safe.Ha Ha!

A friend was told he had the wrong intake on his original 68 firebird beacuse it was a RA II intake. This was a magazine editor that told him this. He called me kinda upset and confused and I had to set the record straight.

There is a lot of wrong info. out there, even in magazines and books.

I really enjoy seeing nicely restored Pontiacs with red air cleaner decals in magazine articles. Don't know how many people have asked me if they are correct.
