Hey Brian.

Yep, have a lot of stories about Lars from back then. I was a Chapter Rep when he left the GTOAA after some contention. He is into Corvettes now I hear. That was a great Convention though in 1987. The Columbus Chapter always puts on a very good show.

Another great vintage pic - RL206 CF-105 on the line Fitted with the all powerful Orenda Iroquois engines combined 30,000 + lbs of thrust -1959 - never got to fly as everything was cut up for scrap --Shame - - the only thing saved was the nose section by a mystery person or persons - it now sits at the Canadian Aviation Museum .
To bad - first fly by wire etc. next Fighter to have this capability was the F-14 Tomcat .

How fast was it projected to fly? I'd guess mach 3? That is what the F-108 Rapier and XB-70 speed was. Same time/development frame.

It would have been fast - their building a actual flying 2/3 Scale CF-105 AVRO ARROW version now in Alberta - hope it comes to our local Airshow ( Abbotsford ) when its done - Heres a cool link .

For those of us old enough, there are 2 1960's....the early part of the 1960's was the clean cut, short hair, "Leave it to Beaver" type of environment.

The later part of the 1960's was the Viet Nam war, hippy, protest, riots in the streets type of enviroment.

Really striking when I think of it.

The guy in the trenchcoat is typical of the day.

Yes it sure changed - except we did get some cool Pontiacs GTO's etc. - Landed on the moon - Star Trek etc. .

That is an important and valid point and I think younger people are given a distorted view of actually how the 60s were. The long hair, hippy, protest, ete era did not really get into full style ( if you want to call it that ) until the last 1/3 or possibly 1/4 of the decade. What many percieve as the '60s' was more the 70s.
Things may have started to go south in SF in 1966 but, the rest of the US did not follow right away and some areas did not at all. Long hair was in vogue well into the 80s but, was gone by the time Reagan left office.
