My old Sears double-action air brush was working great until it fell of a table. No apparent damage. No parts got bent or broken. Air passes thru without a problem, but now it won't suck the paint out of the jar. Complete disassembly reveals no clogs or damage. Usually I can fix about anything, but this is making me scratch my head.

Horst, they work off suction.

Not sure how that one is set up, but usually in the nozzle the 2 points are where the problem would be.

Can you see where the hose attaches inside the nozzle?

Probably a hose broke inside there and not letting the siphon action work right.
(or something is blocking the orifice inside).

Can you blow air thru the tube that picks up paint?

It's pretty conventional, kind of like a carburetor. Air passing thru creates a pressure drop inside the gun and it is supposed to suck the paint out of the jar. All I can figure is there must be a vacuum leak somewhere. It won't even spray straight lacquer thinner. Blocking the nozzle makes air bubbles come out of the paint pickup tube, but not too much, which may be a clue. I'll fix it later when I have more time.

I'm working on my daughter's pinewood car and decided to apply the PPG primer/surfacer with a brush. The wife's fine-bristle makeup brush worked real well for that. Building a pinewood car takes an incredible amount of time and I'm getting down to the wire. She will help me paint it tomorrow.

check the nozzles where they join the body you could have cracked it there as its silver soldered and the tubes are brass .
