I installed a disc conversion and new master, booster, and proportion valve on my 68 bird. I bench bled the master, then I tried to vacuum bleed the brakes with no luck. Then I tried to manually bleed them with no luck. So I disconnected the lines an pressure fed them full of fluid and tried to bleed them again...nothing. I have no pedal pressure and when I open the bleeders fluid will just trickle out with no real pressure. Could the master be bad ? Any ideas. The entire brake system is new.

Did your kit come with two pushrods to chose from for the booster to master?

No, the booster, master, and valve came preasssembled and only came with an adjustable rod to connect to the pedal.

I feel your pain Max. I am pretty much in the same boat. Although I am getting plenty of fluid at all locations when I bleed. I would believe your pushrod is incorrect and not going in far enough. Hope somone can help out!

How do I know what the correct length rod would be ?

Take the master cylinder off and step on the brake pedal it should move out aprroximately 1 inch I have several longer new ones if you need one.

It moves out a little more than an inch

If you bleed the master and it was pushing out fluid I might suspect the distribution block.
What all came with your conversion kit? It is a stock disc break conversion? |

is this a 4-wheel or 2 wheel disc conversion?
I had the same issues with a disc conversion, fluid coming out but very little pressure, and I discovered that I was sold the wrong master cylinder. the master cylinders for disc brakes push out a lot more fluid because they have a bigger piston(s) to move in comparison to the wheel cylinder.

I did just the front brake conversion. I bought the master, booster, and valve as a unit seperate from the rest, but I specified for front disc rear drum. How can I tell if I got the wrong master ?

today I plugged the ports right at the master and still no pedal pressure. I would have to say the master is no good. Or should I try to bench bleed it again ?

When you bench bled it originally, did you get good flow from the ports? If so, I'd say you have a problem with the length of the push rod. When you bench bleed it, measure how far the piston goes in the cylinder.
