Larger radiator for aftermarket AC?
I have a 68 GTO convertible, auto, non-AC car. It has a radiator from a manual car with a trans cooler on the front.
I am looking at installing aftermarket AC. I think I'm going to have to change the radiator to an auto radiator to get rid of the trans cooler and make room for the condenser. > Will I need a larger radiator because of the AC? > Were there "AC" and "non AC" versions of radiator? > Should I look at aftermarket radiators? Originality is not important here, just performance and reliability. > Anybody have any recommendations? Don't know if I need to go aluminum, just get a bigger stock rad, leave it alone or ...? ,I think that they both came with a 4 core radiator, Yes if you are going to a auto trans. I would post this in the parts needed if you need one. I bought one from a member on here and have never opend the box to look at it yet about 3 years ago, The big cars had the same ones in them also.

I have a CHAMPION 3 core ( cc161 ) and she does not get hot at all.

You might want to keep the separate trans cooler and just mount it somewhere that it doesn't interfere with the condenser - A radiator with a built in trans cooler will not reject heat as well as one that is free of it - thus, by converting to an Auto radiator - you are loosing cooling capacity.
If money is no object, you can recore your radiator with a denser fins per inch radiator - to get more cooling capacity out of the same space.
