The wife is going to a conference in San Antonio next week. She will be in meetings all day Tuesday thru Saturday. That gives me some time to hit the junkyards and antique stores and little Mexican restaurants. Can you recommend any good places to go during the week?

I cant recommend a place but just walk down to the river walk and you will find plenty to do. I have not been there for a while but I am sure the river walk will never change. It will also lead you to the Alamo as a finale

Rosarios has good Mexican food. Walking distance from downtown. Next to the State Highway Patrol Museum. A couple blocks south of the riverwalk. If you can, go to Lockhart (the town) for bbq. Smittys and Blacks are both off the main square and are the best I've ever had bar none, and I live in Memphis where people live for that stuff. Lockhart was worth the trip. Get there anyway you can, it will be worth it. There is a pretty good Mexican retaurant on the riverwalk. It's a modern spin on Mexican food and they make the quaquamole at your table. Very good food, can't remember the name though. It's one of the most northern restaurants on the main part of the riverwalk up the stairs. Next to a road bridge. All the other mexican restaurants on the riverwalk are not worth going to in my opinion. Have fun in San Antonio, we did.

Send sunshine and warm air north. I was in San Antonio once, but stuck in the TSA Truckstop for 3 days. Not fun at all.

We will be staying close to the convention center. I have been to the Alamo. I will only eat Mexican food morning noon and night with plenty of beans and extra hot hot sauce. I might just hit the bbq places recommended for a break. I am not taking any cars just my truck just in case I get lucky with some parts and antiques.I have already printed up the racetrack map and a few others. Will print this whole thread later so I dont miss anything. I think warm weather may already be heading up your way.

If you like jazz music, check out the band (Jim Miller I think) just off the riverwalk @ The Hyatt hotel. Wife and I were there in Oct and stayed a week down on the riverwalk. The Alamo we went to, and I hadn't been since i was 7, (i'm now 53). and it had changed a bunch. I talked to a lady that showed me pics of the stuff i remembered when I was a kid. You'll find plenty to do there. Have a blast, we did.

There used to be a little hole-in-the wall place out by the OLD airport that my buddy
Noel used to take me to. BEST Tex-Mex I've EVER eaten. I just can't remember its name!!

I got back from my trip but things have changed in San Antonio. I probably hit 15 junk yards and saw 3 Pontiacs. 2 76 era gran pixs and 1 55 pontiac but most of it was gone. I actually have more old cars than the junk yards do. I did make it to Seguin but couldnt find that junk yard. Nobody knew where it was and I left the gps and his phone number in the hotel. Poor planning on my part. The mexican food was great and we did do bbq one night. I also came home with no antiques. Nothing I really wanted a lot of aftermarket stuff mixed in and the prices were very high. One place had about 15 wind up clocks which I am into but their prices were probably doubletop retail price. I had expected a car show or two to go to but San Antonio was heaving their annual Fiesta that weekend so no car shows that I could find. There was one listed on cl in San Marcos but i didnt know where San Marcos was. Come to find out it was only 40 minutes away. If I had known that I would have gone. The wife and I still had a good time. Thanks for everyones help

Car show in San Marcos!? How did I miss that one? Do you remember where?
San Antonio has a few car get togethers every friday night. There's Biffs off I35 and topperwein, there's Pig stands off Broadway and Bun N Barrel off Austin Highway I think. Biffs is the only one I go to and is the biggest one. Did you try Nicks? When I first started going there 5 years ago it was 100% old cars. Now it's maybe 10% old stuff. It's sad
