The engine isn't called out in the VIN until the 1972 model year.

I should add though, the 6 after the B indicates that it is a 6 cylinder car. It doesn't indicate if it was a base 6 or a Sprint 6.

Thx I thought it was a 6 bc of the radiator size... Anyone know what is involved in puttIng the larger v8 radiator in? I'd only have to cut the support hole larger right? The frames are the same between the 6 and 8 right?
