OK hear is mine.
Originally a 350 2bbl with 350 automatic.
Now a 350 (not #s matching but correct '69) 4bbl with t-5 5 speed.
Also added 400 hood with tach, ralley gauges and clock, console and Grant wood wheel.
I've owned it for 20 years and I think I'm the third owner.

It is a world class tranny out of an '88 GTA. 2.95 first with .63 O.D. I love it!

What rear gears? I have a 400 with 3:42 gears and two 1989 T-5s out of Camaro's. Same transmissions as yours. So did you move the console back?

Yes, the console has to be moved back about 2 1/2 inches. The shifter has to be modified as well but nothing too serious. I had mine parked next to a friends '69 Firebird at a show and asked a mutual friend if he could see any difference in the consoles and after studying them for a few minutes he couldn't see anything different. Even after I told him what the difference was he still said that it was not noticable. A lot of people on this site and elswhere will tell you that it is a waste of time and money to put a t-5 behind a Pontiac v/8 but if you don't abuse them, they are plenty strong. I'm sure I could go out and blow mine up in a hurry if I wanted to but that is not the way I drive my 'Bird. If you are planning on going racing, spend the 3 grand on a Tremec, if you are going cruising, use the t-5 you have and have some fun.

Forgot to add that I'm running a 3.08 rear.

heres my pro street 67 firebird 400 clone
it has a 400 with dual quads, a Vince Janis 2004R trans, 9" rear, and 4-wheel disc brakes

with the overdrive and lock up it gets 17mpg on the freeway!

I'm retiring and moving to AZ from WY and have been working on getting the car running so I can get it on and off a trailer. Motor, tranny and suspension are all done. I loosely put the front clip on this weekend. I'm waiting on repo hose clamps and battery cables before I can get it running. The original motor was broke in on an engine dyno and is putting out 410 hp and 485 ftlbs of torque. I converted it from a turbo 400 to a Muncie M20. This is going to be my retirement project. The car was originally Windward blue with white top and int, it will be going back to those colors. I'll post more when its done.

This thread makes me very sad, and at the same time anxious to get started, and happy to see all the pretty birds. haha

Here is a picture of mine

She has been sitting neglected for years, I was working on her hard then I blew out my knee and that sidelined me for months, and killed my savings.

All very cool cars! I'm partial to FirebirdHank's 1969 Bird, I don't know why.

Agreed on the T5 philosophy. I'll bet that's a fun car to cruise in (looks nice, too!).

Default My '68

Here are a few pics of my current '68. It's original other than the addition of the HO stripes (which are incorrect for a 400 car) -- one repaint about 25 years ago in its factory Alpine Blue.
