1962 Catalina
Guys,
I am going to be looking at a 62 Catalina. The pictures seem to show it is all there and in pretty fair shape. Is there anything difficult to source on these 62's that i should be looking at when i inspect this car. External or interior? I have always been into Firebirds and most of the restoration parts for those cars are easy to get. I did notice the trim that goes along the top of the rear quarter panels is dented in several areas. Is this peice difficult to find? Thanks for your thoughts! Flipper |

hi not to burst your good find but every thing is hard to find mat will find this and he knows all about 62 no after market sheet metal no inter its all hard took me 6 years to find parts Steve at Indiana Pontiac has a few left that i did not get a hold of take some pitchers later Brody

IMO,the first thing to look at is the trunk floor and the rear frame mounts.If they are all good and solid then look at the rear lower part of the front 1/4s.As has been said almost everything is hard to find and not much aftermarket stuff is avail.If you want to put 62 GP buckets in the car you can buy complete interior for the car.Catalina bench interior will be very expensive.Good luck,Tom

don't forget to examine the front of the main frame rails right behind the torque boxes. the closed in type of frame that has round holes to access body mount bolts gave a perfect place to pocket road grunge and rust out was common. the other type open bottom frame was not nearly as bad for rust in that area. don't be afraid of the "challenge" of the darksiders. the stuff is out there. you just gotta hunt it up. good luck.

It tookme five years to source all the parts for my '62 GP. Got a drivers fender from Minnesota, passenger one from Texas, many parts from Steve at Indiana Pontiac, some from my local Pontiac resto guy, Ebay, craigslist, etc. It takes a lot of looking, but is is possible. Remember to have fun during your journey, afterall, hobbies are supposed to be fun, right??
