Default Big car people Norwalk or POCI

Where are folks planning on going this summer?

I love Norwalk, but I like the drive to Bowling Green better from here. Way better roads and scenery.

People are equally as important too so... Where'll you be? Been a member for a long time but never done POCI convention. Not really up for the anal inspection.

Poci in July is better for me. I will probably drive down for a day. My daughter is attending Suny Esf in Syracuse, NY. She will be Marching for the Syracuse Marching band and has to report the 3rd week of August. So a 6 hour drive to Norwalk and then 12 hours to Syracuse. Not sure.

Hey Patrick -

Your daughter should love ESF -

I graduated from ESF in 1968 and went on to get a masters degree in engineering from SU in 1971 - I go back now and then to take continuing education courses -

It's a really great school and great college atmosphere - good luck to her -

Not really much of an inspection for the Popular Vote or Road Warrior class - just to make sure what class your car is in - shouldn't take more than a minute or two -

Might drive to POCI and show at Norwalk. Not too thrilled about trailering to KY. Still working out the details but Norwalk for sure.

Won't be at the POCI convention this year. Tray's scheduled for Surgery on June 23'rd and recovery will take longer than that. Not sure on Norwalk either. Depends on how he bounces back.

No it's not a closed show. I you wan to enter a car it'll cost you a little extra cash but not much. With that you get a 3 months membership and copies of Smoke Signals which is well worth the membership fee. Don does a helluva job with the mag.

I'm not sure what it costs a walk in, if anything during the days it's not at the track.

As Mike said - the Convention (4 days) is open to non-members for a $59 fee (includes wife and minor children) - many things are included in the registration fee, including a $5 discount at Beech Bend Amusement Park and three months of Smokes.

Spectator fee at Beech Bend for Friday and Saturday is $15 per person - Drag racing both days - car show on Saturday.

I am trying to get my inherited '69 'bird roadworthy by POCI.

We are show sponsors of the Indian Uprising in St. Charles (the Chicago area), which is the same weekend as Norwalk.

In answer to your question - I am driving Firebird to the POCI convention this year and won't be able to be at Norwalk. Sorry, guys!!

POCI is out this year, Norwalk may be a possibility but with everything else that's going on that may not happen either.

I'm planning on going to POCI and will try to hit Norwalk too if at all possible.
The car inspection really wasn't a big deal last year, but I wasn't in the points judged category, just the road warrior class. The whole inspection was drive up, show fire extinguisher, chat for a couple minutes, then drive away after getting the OK. They didn't even bother to ask about insurance. It was a lot easier than I expected it to be. Figured they'd be looking all over the car, but that wasn't the case.
Definitely lots of great people at the POCI show, but then again, I bet there's a lot of great people at Norwalk too.
I'm looking forward to the drive also. Going through West Virginia was a blast and the scenery was fantastic. Keep your camera handy!

Will be at Bowling Green but not bring my own car, going with Hooter and his freshly built 63 Lemans drag car. Norwalk too most likely, but just helping with the racing again. I hopefully will be retiring the Deathwish soon...trying to pick up another 65 GP that is less...'aged.'

Though I dread the drive (about 750 miles), I'm going to bite the bullet and do Bowling Green in July, then another 500 miles to Norwalk. Can't get enough of this stuff.
PY Open house is a lot better - only 11/2 hour away!
