Its a 455 in there temporary. Didnt really get a fair chance to evaluate it but its a typical old school build. +30 Trw forged , stock rod, balanced, ported #16 D ports about 10.75-11:1 range, 69 iron Qjet intake and my trusty '77 TA 800 Qjet, HEI with MSD rev limiter module set at 5600, solid .550 ish Ultradyne, Flowtech headers, stock 78 style fuel pump for A/C car (1/4" return), all stock fuel system , shifted at around 5200, 1.5 alum roller rockers, stock suspension, stock clutch, original 3.42's and an old muncie m20, 109mph in hot weather and crap launches, clutch slippage and not powershifted at full throttle. Maybe run it again with 4spd later this fall with cooler weather and after floor pan work and , resurface flywheel, warranty clutch and get shorter race tires for more gear. Engine will go into 63 Lemans coupe later with automatic , then correct TA 6.6 block goes back in and normal pump gas fun and cruising. I feel car would have easily went low 12's or better yesterday if it had a th350 and a itty bitty baby stall

Marty Parker drove Aubrey Parkers teal 64 GTO , I think it ran 11.8. Of course Thom Reaves drove the formerally and late Gary Parkers old silver 78 TA and won his class as well.

Right on! Parkers are the best! I lost to Gary racing the gto, he ran right on his dial in! My youtube video have the race. I told Gary after the race it was basically the old set up in the 78 TA back in the day. I called Aubrey before I put my combo together asking if he thought the compression and the rpm intake would cause a problem or if it would run okay. I had already bought the spc 3 cam so I ended up running it anyway. He told me he thought the ra4 would be a better cam. Nice people that is the only reason I miss going to the swapmeets.

Ditto! The Parkers are as decent as they come. Years ago; I kept Aubrey (Nolan) Parker on the phone all the time when I was getting into Pontiacs. He never lost patience with me.LOL. His basic OEM cam recipe's put our heavy GT-37 right into the low 12's just like he said it would.
He was the reason I joined the DAPA organization. Lots of good folks in the DFW area. Always made us feel very welcome.

yep I was so glad that he was willing to talk with me and give me reasons for what he thought, Gary's car was like a F.A.S.T. class car before FAST existed. My friend Rodney met them back in the early 80's and saw the car on and off for years and always loved it. Rodney sold one of them a Nova race car and got to talking to them about Pontiac's. Some of you guys might remember Rodney's car it was a Aqua colored first gen camaro with a 400 Pontiac mostly raced behind bell helicopter or green valley. car ran 12.00 with a powershot all day long.

poor green valley is now a row of houses that I flip off every time I pass it going to my mom house.

Did you now! Hehe, me too. Sunday I was parked next to another guy from just south of Ft Worth, he had the blue 2nd gen and was running a 455 with iron round ports that he said Nunzi had worked on. Bob and I ended up visiting with him for the most part, got his contact info and he wanted to meet up at Kenedale sometime in the future.

well if you guys go to kennedale sometime send me a PM I would love to join you guys and at least hang out. My car has been pretty much parked since I had my kid, almost 7 now. Spend a bunch of money on the new tranny and broke the spag had the cam go flat and now the oil pressure sits at 10 lbs and kinda gave up. 2004 was a tough year for me so I just put everything on the back burner. Car sits in front of my grandmothers house letting the nitos rot.

I got back on here so I might get the spark to build something, Thinking a big compression 406 with John Hodges (slow 77) old ultradyne cam in it. I want to move the rpm range because I can't hook the 455 if I stall it. I have to peddle the car out and I hate it. I have considered changing to a different car. I would love to run a 78 lemans again but the header problem is worst than in the 3rd gen.

Will do. About your car those kind of set backs suck but it comes with the territory. I’ve broke more chit on my T/A than I want to think about so I can relate.

It was great seeing alot of folks. I was sad to hear about Gary when I talked to Marty, his silver 78 against my black one in some runs over the years was fun,he usually won. Aubrey and Gary would always spend alot of time on the phone with you for sure helping. Marty said his son bought Aubrey's car.

Missed seeing you there Mike.

I had mixed race results. Off the trailer 11.53 @ 119 two runs in the right lane. Right on 11.50s for no roll bar. Spun HARD in the left lane(12.00!) Backed up a 11.45 in the right lane. Of course drew left in first round and spun hard so way off dial. In buy back drew the left again but it hooked harder than it had all day and pulled a 0.005 redlight expecting a spin so ran it out at the fastest time 11.43@119.8. Not too bad for an old flat tappet pump gas 455 car on DOTs If it just had a consistent driver.
