Well, it's that time of year. It hot as Hades and and I have a slight A/C issue. I have a 99 GTP with the dual climate control. With the air on, the air coming from the driver side vents is warmer than the air coming from the passenger vents. Both sides are set to 60 degrees. I'm guessing that the mixer door for the driver side isn't closing all the way or what ever gasket seal used has deteriorated. Is this a know/common issue and is there a known fix that won't make me want to blow my brains out?

Qball, got the same issue with my 2002 GP, took it by a local mechanic and he told me it's the dual climate control plate with all the controls. said to get one from a salvage yard, they go for 75 dollars used and 300 new. Was going to ask the same question but you beat me to it looking for confiramtion on this. Ours also works most of the time untill you get on the highway and then it's always hot on the drivers side, mechanic said that's because it can't handle the electrical load.

Same issue with my 2000 GTP, found this maybe it will help you guy's, I'm going to top off my A/C before I go in depth
98-05 W Cars: HVAC Side-to-Side Temperature Difference - kw AC A/C charge control driver duct heat heater low outlet passenger performance - (Aug 18, 2004) Subject: 1998 - 2005 W Cars HVAC Side to Side Temperature Difference -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI. Condition/Concern: HVAC duct temperatures may be different on the driver and passenger side. Recommendation/Instructions: Engineering documentation supports the follow GUIDELINES when diagnosing this complaint: •HVAC in A/C temperature linearity (side-to-side temp difference) should be within 4 degrees in vent mode. •HVAC in heat temperature linearity should be within 7 degrees from floor vent (driver side is usually the warmer of the two) •Front to rear heat outlet duct temperature linearity should be within 11 degrees. All the above situations are taken from a basepoint of 0 degrees F at 30 mph full blower. So, this information is a GUIDELINE only. NOTE: If the HVAC is in the A/C mode and duct temperature side to side difference is out of specification, the most common cause is a low refrigerant level. . Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. Models: (1998 - 2004 Buick Regal/Century) and (2000 - 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo/Impala) and (1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue) and (1998 - 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix)
