Default Tail light issues..

I'm have a couple issues with my tail/brake lights. Last week I swapped out a light bulb on the driver side and it worked fine until I hit the brakes.. it then went out. Today I started to try and figure out what the problem was. I removed the driver side socket from the tail light housing while it was on and then moved to the passenger side to remove that socket. I removed the socket and then the lights went out.
Of course this happened 5 minuted before I had to leave for work. I'm now at work and hoping for some ideas on what to check when I get home.

New tail lite socket assemblies may be needed...the bulb contacts lose their springy-ness and need to be R&R'ed.

I don't think it is the socket assy's. Both lights went out at the same time when I removed the passenger side socket. I tried pushing the bulbs into the sockets with no luck. I would think that if the sockets lost the "springy-ness" they would work if I pressed the bulb down into the socket.

I got it figured out.. I forgot that the tail light housings are grounded and this is why they were not working when they were taken out. I cleaned up the connection between the socket and tail light housing and all is working.
