On Saturday I gave Keith Seymore several of the orginal magzinze articles on the Black Bird, Silver Bullet, Mike Fon's '57 Vette and Mike McGauri's '69 Camaro. I am hoping that they will be able to be enlarged through the thumbnails.

Hopefully, when Keith is done cruising Woodward this week. I'm sure he'll have more time after Sunday of Dream Cruise week to sort through the articles I gave him. That is in between work and sleep.

Sorry about that Keith.
I was at Duggan's "Dream Cruise Central" last night with the Blackbird. WOMC 104.3, the Dream Cruise Office radio station, interviewed me about the Blackbird. The D.J. followed up with an interview of John Politzer "Cheater". John had no idea that the broadcast was live and wouldn't give his name other then say he was known as "Cheater". The D.J. quested him about all of his exploits. John gave him some stories but never his name. John said to me later I hope they edit it. That is when I told him it was "live". He just laughed. Traffic was heavy with Muscle Cars and Classics. Great night for being out on Woodward. Several people knew the 'Bird in its day. One gentleman's cousin had just sold his low 1968 Black Hemi Charger to Director Ron Howard for a movie he is doing. The Charger ran the Blackbird. He said it was very eye opening as when they raced all he say was the tail lights of the Blackbird disappearing in the distance. John Politzer heard the story and just smiled. Another guy who knew the Blackbird back in the day wouldn't stop bothering us with questions about the car. He finally said all of you guys, Jim Wangers, Frank Ulbrick, John and I still won't give out any info about how fast and what is under the hood. John just smiled and said it's a Chevy. After several hours the guy just gave up.

Here are the re-scans of the previous articles. I did them in half page increments in an attempt to make them more readable:

Keith, I was real young when this article was written so my question is could you run 12:1 compression with leaded gas back in the early 70s? If so I wish we still had leaded gas. I know race gas can be use but it is an arm and a leg and cant get it at the pumps like you could leaded gas.

Back then guys would run " Sunoco 260" - which was available at the Sunoco station with a mere the twist of a dial.
I buy my race fuel (Torco 110) locally at a station with a dedicated pump. There is a station closer to my house that sells Cam-2 (105 or 106 octane) as well, but I usually drive right past it on my way to get the Torco. K

Thanks Keith, that was some interesting reading. I always enjoy reading magazine articles that were written when these cars/parts were new.

Thank you Keith for taking the time to cut and paste the articles onto the thread. I see you had to cut out some of the pictures to get the articles up. You most have done a lot of trial and error. We all thank you for your efforts.
Maybe when Keith finds more time he can try to get the other two one page articles up. One on Mike McGaurie's '69 RS COPO Camaro with Tunnel Ram and the other on Mike Fons' big block '57 Vette. Both of these cars where amoung the "Fastest" in Detroit.
