Default headliner/sunvisors

I notice in the parts catalogs they have headliners/sun visors either star cut or perforated. My originals have star pattern. Was this desigated in the trim codes or was this just done at random at the factory? Thanks

I have a Colors Interiors Accessories dealer binder for 64. It is at my shop but going from memory they describe the pattern of the headliner for each trim code. But there was not a different code to specify what headliner material was used. For example a 64 Tempest would have a headliner material commonly known as "basket weave" and a Lemans would have a "star" material. The interior trim code would designate what color, materials, and upholstery pattern and door panel pattern for a given trim level: 20 Tempest, 21 Tempest Custom, 22 Lemans. It did not designate solely what headliner material to be used.

would the assembly line the car came off of influence the type/pattern of material used?

what about when the car came off the line?

maybe a survey of owners would throw some lite on it

I am sure there were inconsistencies. Just look at the seat belt discussion. A man gets dinged at a points event for having the original seat belts in his car. There could have been some Lemans' built with a basketweave headliner and they too would be dinged.

Default headliner/sunvisors

My '65 was built first week Jan in Baltimore. It had a star pattern headliner and I still have a few "experts" lecture me that it should be perforated. The photos of the original headliner remnants before they were removed and samples of same do nothing to convince these guys.
