Default NC Licence questions

Hi to all in NC, I am looking into getting some information on what options are there for license plates on classic cars. In WI we got collector plates for a one time fee and are good as long as you have the car. Is there such a plate like that in NC? or any special plate for a collector car at that? Thanks Pat

We have antoque plates.....or did have, I assume we still have them. I have no info on anything specific though. Try the NCDMV website?

Here is the NC DMV website: http://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/vehicle/reg...n/default.html

The short answer is you can run a display plate here on a vintage car. Most folks here will simply keep their current registered plate inside the car & have a display plate for the year of the vehicle on the car.

edit from DMV website: Antique Auto Tag, general statute 20-79.4(b)(63), $10.00 fee. Vehicle must be 35 years old.
