blowing brake light fuses on '66 Bonne
Any ideas on why this happens? It doesn't take long, I guess keeping my foot down on the brake pedal at stop lights gets the wire hot and it will blow the fuse, or a drip of solder will oooze out an end of the fuse. I'd appreciate any help. Dave

Is it the correct size of fuse being used? If so then disconnect the rear harness connector and retest. If the problem is now gone suspect a concern wth the wiring or bulb sockets or even bulb filaments shorting out, if the problem is still there , the concern is in the dash wiring or maybe even the turn signal switch.

Did you check for corrosion on the terminals also on the plugs for the bulbs.... Do not know if it was foctory but when I bought my 66 I had the same type of problem except I had a 30 amp relay in the fuse block instead of a fuse and I found that it was going bad replaced it with a standerd fuse and fixed the problem. Never saw another relay for the brakes in any parts mag and it looked as if it could have been factory
