He's doing better with the convertible than he did with the Formula - gear box is a little more forgiving & the clutch doesn't grab so high.

The set-up went like this (& I'm still not sure who was setting up who)....He had to get dropped off at a party, so he comes down from doing his homework & says it's time to go. I say ok. He asks if we can take the convertible & I ask him if he wants to drive?

"REALLY?"

He texts his buddy to meet him out at the end of the driveway before we leave. As we get onto the street he can see that nobody is out there yet, so I tell him to go ahead and pull it in. Just as we turn into the driveway he sees his friends & they spot him. He rolled into the driveway in 2nd, with his foot on the brake & not on the clutch and stalled it right in front of them!

He could have rolled it in there with the doors hanging off & still blown them away!

Brian was in Kissimmee this week and went by the dealership address and snapped these pictures for me. The dealership is long gone but it looks like the original building is still there, small used car dealership & tire store.

Chris, I love looking at that PHS sheet. So many options, what a great car! I see it has the door edge guards. Do your doors have the drilled hole/screw kind? Lately I've seen on ebay 70-72 door edge guards and the latest one were the press on kind, no holes. I'm curious to see on a car that was optioned with them if they were the ones you drill or the press on kind in 72.

I just went downstairs to check - mine are like the first ones Pat, no screw holes.

I pulled some wider angle pictures off Google Street View & Google Earth last night - bigger building than I had figured and good size lot too - not as small as I had originally thought.

Thanks to Diego & Fred Simmonds, we can close the door on the production numbers officially.

Of the total 33 GT & Sport convertibles (23867), 16 were M22's & 17 were TH400 autos. GT production has been published at 2-4spds & 5-auto leaving Sport production at 14-4spds & 12-auto.

These numbers fill in the previous unknown breakdown of the 81 lemans. We didn't know the breakdown of the 26 verts and the 46 hard tops. (9 were post coupes +26+46= 81) These numbers are now:

Of the 26 convertible lemans:
14 were M22's
12 were M40's

Of the 46 HO lemans hard tops:
21 were M22's
25 were M40's

All 102 Lemans (21 Lemans GT and 81 Lemans) built with the 455-HO are now broken down by option and transmissions!

Looking back at my records, Dan Jensen was close on his estimations for the vert and hard tops. He estimated 12 manuals and 14 auto (ended up reversed) for the convertibles and hard tops were estimated at 26 manual and 20 autos. This is from a letter dan sent out dated December 18, 2001.

At that time he had tracked down 24 of the 102 in his registry. Anyone have updated numbers from his registry? Not even sure if he still keeps those records or not.

Heard rumors of those 72 Formula 455 HO breakdown existing but never saw them...

boss, way back years ago, fred simmons told me that it was one of 4 made and sent me that sheet. however I don't know about the sport / gt combo.

What all entailed the "sport" option? Wasn't it mostly interior trim? Lower carpeting on the door panels and such?
