Default Where to get convertible top motor brushes

Anybody have a source for the brushes for convertible top motor? Specifically, '69 firebird/camaro convertible motor. I have never seen nor have needed to replace brushes on any top motor I've ever redone, but this motor I recently purchased is so worn, one brush was missing and the spring behind was the only thing making contact. Hate to junk a perfectly good core just because of bad brushes. 1955+ except scissor type motors should be the same.

Maybe someone has a seized top motor for parts?

Thanks!!

i bought some generic brushes for an alternator for a neon my daughter had . i soldered the leads on it worked fine .it had over 250,000 on it didn't want to buy a rebuilt. you need a good auto parts store and a counterman who will look in his books.

I would try these guys. I have bought from them several times before and always had great service! http://www.hydroe.com

Thanks Peter,

I deal with these guys as well and very happy with their products, but they don't sell the brushes outside of their rebuilding services.

I've looked at alternator brushes and am concerned of the gauge of wire used on them versus what is in the convertible motor.

I believe my option here is to sacrifice a more common chrysler or ford top pump motor for the brushes. I also notice the windshield wiper motors are similar, but I'd rather render a "k-car " part useless.

Thanks guys.
