out of politeness of the thread topic,,my unique contribution to the holiday season will remain as it has for several years,i go to toys r us and buy a dozen or so toys and pass them out to kids at shelters and salvation army.

Unlike most people I don't shop for the lowest price, I shop for the best value. That doesn't necessarily mean the highest price either. If only more shoppers understood VALUE.

Sure you can go into the local walmart (I never shop there) and get the lowest price, but frequently that means manufactured to their specs which with many items is different than the same thing elsewhere.

BTW, most TV's are not really made in China, the components are made in Japan, Korea, or elsewhere and only assembled in China.

Great post though and excellent ideas (esp. the auto detailing), I hadn't thought of some of them. We usually contribute to care packages for the mid-east military folks, we sent a couple $50 phone cards last year so out troops can keep in touch.

New Christmas tradition

The best new Christmas tradition would be calling it Christmas instead of Xmas, and saying Merry Christmas instead of this Happy Holidays BS. It is what it is and for those that don't like it... too bad, get over it.

I went to a local tree stand a few years ago, and asked why they weren't selling Christmas trees?
The owner of the stand looked at me confused.
I explained why I couldn't buy an Xmas tree from him, but would gladly buy a Christmas tree.
He changed the sign the next day.
