Default engine stand mounting bolt sizes?

i just need to know what grade and seize of bolts i need to use to attach a pontiac V8 to a 360 degree rotating engine stand. i've got to remove an engine tomorrow morning, and i have the lift, i have the stand, i just need to right size/length/grade bolts to actually attach the block to the stand so i can start disassembling it. surely there are engine builders here who can help me out here.

3/8" 16 thread
length will depend on the stand too
if i am not mistaken typically 4-6" in length
i think mine on my last stand were 4" long
summit sold a various bolt kit for this and the size was in there
i think it was like $5 or so for the kit, maybe a little more
i was able to use some of the hardware for other things, so worked out for me

i think a visit to home depot/lowes would get you what you need

Yes 3/8 16 unless it is an early block, than the bolts would be 7/16.

Grade 5 or better yet grade 8. Do not use ungraded standard bolts.

Buy the 5" bolts and a bunch of 3/8" flat washers and you should be good to go.

I've never had to go longer than 3 1/2" long for most of the stands I have used. Be careful with the upper bellhousing mount holes that don't go all the way through. You don't want to bottom them all the way out and over tighten them. The lower mounts near starter pad/oil pan go all the way through - don't have to use but one washer.

That's all I use. No sense taking a chance with your expensive engine.

what year range are you talking for an early block? i'm attaching a '79 301 to the stand now, but my other engine is a '72 350.

Early block, 55 to early 60's. The 79 and 72 blocks are ok with 3/8-16
