Looking for a inner fender for my car, a few places show that 64-67 inner fender to be the same. Is that really the case? If so where to get em cheap?

I dont know if they are the same . I heard that too but some sources state that if your car came with a power brake booster ther should be an indentation on the drivers side inner fender to clear the booster.

I may be one of the two sources pontirag is speaking of and I have NO definite proof of the PB and manual brake difference. I'm still looking for a dr. side with NO indention. May be just a myth 'cause they sure are hard to locate and, I'm sure, there were lots of manual brake cars built. Try hard to find a used part rather than a repop. Fit is VERY critical on the front end. Just a little difference in the making WILL cost you alignment problems. Believe me: "Been there, done that"!! LOL

Ames sells the inner fenders for the 66-67 and says they will fit a 64-65. The difference is that the 66-67 has an indent to accommodate an 11" brake booster. PY sells the same inner fender but does not say that it fits a 64-65.
Have you tried Frank's Pontiac parts? http://www.frankspontiacparts.com/usedparts/index.htm They normally have a good selection of used parts. Other places to check are Billions and Trillions. http://www.billionsandtrillionsinc.com/ , Potomac Classics http://www.potomacclassic.com/ I have some other places too but they don't have web sites and their phone numbers are at home. If you would like their numbers let me know and I will post them tonight when I get home. I found Potomac Classics and the ones that I have the phone numbers for from dealing with places like Ames and PY. When they don't have the new parts you need they have a list of used places to call that they recommend and have great reputations. I have used a couple of them and they are very reliable. Dale |

I have never seen or heard of a 64 thru 67 LH inner fender without the indent. All 64,65,66 years came with the small shallow indent with or without the PB booster. The 67 is a one year only with a much larger indent because the 67 PB booster was a larger version than the previous years.
There may be other small differences elsewhere such as where the brace attaches the inner fender to the firewall down by the frame?? |

The '64 driver side inner fender has some oval holes that are unique to that year for securing the harness.
As far as passenger side for a '65, I don't recollect there being a difference between that and the '64, or the '66 and '67. Due to size in 3 dimensions, it will always be pricey to ship. I should think that you would be able to find one close enough to pick up. The repo would work well for you. I have never seen a '64-6 driver side fender that didn't have the dimple to clear the booster. |

Darn. I just handed off '65 outers to Velox65 and have at least one side of inner from a '67 LeMans; I may have both? I had no clue they fit a '65.
Let me dig the darn things out and see what I've got. The car was a standard brake car and I would almost bet money it had never been apart so it will be interesting to see if there is an indentation for the booster the car did not have. |
