Default Insurance

I am sure some of you guys have delt with some of these collector car insurance companys. Just curious who you guys like dealing with, or will insure mine at this point on. I should have been looking long before this point, but definatly need to get in gear and get some insurance on it.

Plan on having the body back on it and painted in the next couple months.

I am with JC taylor who required and appraisel. They would not insure it until the body was mounted to the frame.
After the car was done I switched to Hagerty. they did not require an appraisel.
I switched back to JC because Farmers owns them and I recieve the multi car discount.

I have 5 classic's insured with Hagerty. In my opinion they are hard to beat. Very reasonable rates also. I recently purchased a Eldorado convertible in Boston. I live in SC and had to have the car shipped to S.C. I called Hagerty and they immediately insured car for purchase price even though it was still in Boston and shipping was not yet finalized. If the car had of met with any misfortune, I would have been covered. I carry full coverage[collision & libility] on 5 cars and the total premium is just over 650.00 per year.

I have safeco classic car insurance, and even had a claim a few years ago. I had no troubles dealing with them at all.

I am in the insurance business and have dealt with a number of them. Haggerty is my favorite and I have four cars with them. Simple & easy to deal with. No appraisal needed as long as your vehicle price is reasonable and falls in the normal values. (High dollar cars I always recommend getting an appraisal). Claims are good and optional flatbed towingservice & magaizine are nice extras (which I have used)
They want a photo and it has to be garaged and not your principal transportation. You can quote it yourself online or call them.
Grundy is another one I like and there are individual local companies that can be good. You need to ask the right questions and no matter where you end up make sure you have agreed value and not stated value.

Default Thanks

Thank your for the replies. I thought about calling Haggerty, glad to hear they are a good company. My local agent loves what we are doing with the car but doesn't want to insure classic cars.

Thanks again, Dennis.

Condon & Skelly, great to deal with and decent rates, not sure about a "project" though.

I have Hagerty on my Trans Ams. I used to have American Collectors Insurance, but dropped them after they decided to cut one policy from $14k to $3k for some reason still unknown to me (and evidently them too as they couldn't explain why, nor would they change it back) even though I had receipts for all the work.

Hagerty....Price, ease of application, flat bed trailer on break downs, experience and reputation. Don't leave them out of your search.

I have Grundy right now and they are or were cheaper than Hagerty for the same coverage. I think Grundy recently sold out and I may be switching.

American Modern here. I chose them for 3 reasons. One, they have a rider (sp) I can add to the policy to specifically cover me to drive to work occasionally. Two, they have "agreed value". Three, they accepted my T/A on the policy so that saves me alot vs having to cover with my DD insurance. I've had one claim and it was this year, my 3rd or 4th yr of coverage with them. No problems at all with the claim but it was small. It's a yearly policy and I should be due to renew in a couple of months, and then I'll know the rest of the story.

So does Hagerty only allow to and from shows and events? It is going to see very few miles anymore, but I would like to be able to take it out for an ocasional drive and maybe a trip to work from time to time...

American Collectors. Agreed upon value (more that it's worth), coverage on up to $500 in spare parts, up to 2,500 miles annual use. I just got my renewal and it went up $3 to $162 per year.

I have Hagerty and I think as long as you can prove you have another regular use vehicle besides the one that they are insuring, you can drive the car where ever you want.
