could you please tell me how that trim comes off?
are there hidden bolts / studs that require the interior panel to be removed? This is a 62 Tempest. I found the bolt/studs for the back window, but this is narrow side piece. Thanks. |

they are just pressed in from the outside in. and what is on the car i believe is a barrel type fastener, if your headliners off you can see them, all of mine broke when i took them off and i made new ones, good luck. Dan

You need to take the lower part of your header off to access these clips. In order to do that, the back seat needs to come out. I have been searching for replacements and all the clip guys at Carlisle say no one makes these. They call it a butterfly clip. Whatever its called they are a pain to get out. There are four sides of this clip that need to be squeezed together to slide them back out of the hole. I believe there are four to five of them per side. Good luck.

Thanks guys, most of the interior is out. But the headliner still in and ok condition,
but I'm sure if go to undo the bottom edge it will never go back on. Its dry as burnt toast. Thanks again. |

I have removed that style of clip by sliding a piece of tubing over the clip. This pushes in on the 4 tangs that stick out. Then it can be pulled out from the outside. Once you find the correct size of tubing, cut several short pieces to put on the clips & then wiggle/work the piece of chrome out & off the car. As it comes off, the pieces of tubing will fall off. Worked great once I figured how to get it off.
