Question Looking for Chicago resto shop recommendations

First post, not sure if I'm posting in the right place, apologize if I'm not! My cousin and I just purchased a 67 Ram-Air GTO Convertible that we found in the for sale forum on this site. The car is pretty solid but is in need of some body work and then paint to restore it to it's original Signet Gold. We're not looking to make it a 100-point showcar but it needs to be done right, if anybody has any recommendations for shops in the Chicago area we would appreciate it. Thanks!

Welcome to the site and enjoy the forum. Just so you know Pictures are mandatory!

I have read about a couple shops out in the burbs that are known for working on Pontiac's. Will search and follow-up with their contact info.

Awesome, thanks so much! I'll get some pics up as soon as the car gets shipped from CO to its new home here in Chicago!

Countryside Customs in Warrenville, I believe. They rebuilt my brother's BMW 535 after it was T-boned. Cost over 20K to fix. My brother is keeping it because he says it's better than new. Absolutely no evidence of the collision.

Check with Glenn at Vintage Mechanical Works, Sterling IL.

Had two done by him. He'll get more of my work in the future. Does good work, doesn't goof off and have car in "paint jail" forever. Stands behind his work with service after the sale. Quite familiar with Pontiacs, did a few early GTOs already. Knows his way around a Pontiac engine too, considering that he runs a 8 sec drag car.

Will pick up and deliver.

Consider this a reference. PM me with questions.

I couldnt agree more. Jon or Mike are the best.

If the car is in running condition, bring here for their annual spring dustoff. Its open to ONLY Pontiacs and they'll draw about 100 cars. I think its in late April or early May.

Good luck with the car and welcome to the board.

You also may want to consider joining here. Tons of great opertunities to swap parts locally, get local resources and hang with the other Goats. http://cruisintigers.com/

Another local shop I use is Incaudo's body shop in Palatine. I've seen restorations on Harley's, Jag XKE (bottom to top), '64 Riviera. All the body work I have had done was first class.
