Default '63 auto floor-shifter

Anyone without carpet that can take a picture of how this is mounted to the floor board tunnel?

PS.
Still looking for a red one for my car.

Default brackets

The console mounted shifter has two brackets that bolt to the floor. A tall one in the front and a short one at the back of the shifer body. These brackets bolt to the floor and to the shifter body. They are shaped kinda like an upside down U. Make sure you get the brackets with your shifter.

Thanks! The brackets are bolted and not welded to the floor?

Default brackets

The chassis manual shows the brackets bolted to the floor and the shifter body. There may have been mounting pads welded to the floor, but I can't remember. The console shifter is sure unique as it has two levers, one for park and one for shifting! Was confusing for many first time operaters and non Tempest Lemans owners. It is a compact design allowing it to fit between the narrow area between the bucket seats. I have seen the covers in red, black, and brown. Any other colors exist?

Thanks farmer.. I have seen blue and gold (brown). Never actually seen red.
I have heard that something like only 5% of cars came with this option ...maybe someone can confirm if that is accurate or rumor.

Default option

"The Standard Catalog of GTO 1961-2001" lists the option as-- 602 console shift in body style 2200, requires automatic transmission. $48.15.

Attached are a couple of pictures of my wife's Lemans covertible. It has the red console.

Nice interior. That renews new hope for finding a red shifter.
Looks like the original seat covers and carpet.

In my 63 coupe I modifyed it too read D-R-N-2-1 The parking brake is my line lock for racing. I can only start it in P and not N I didn't use the metal floor bezel that goes with it and paid way too much for it but its KWEL. If you find the shifter and no bezel I got one.

They can be painted so any color will work. You'd probably want to paint it anyways to be nice if used.
