Just to be argumentative,
marketing theory would say to create different offerings, and not present too many potentially confusing options to buyers. offer it for sale to the general public without alll the #'s matching components for a discounted price. Then sell the components separately. Offer it for sale to pontiac nuts, like on here or in smoke signals, etc with the components for a premium price. My personal opinion, once its not a #'s matching car, you will realize more value (i.e $$$) by selling the components separately. Who wants a non-numbers car with a matching carb? (IMHO no one).

I can help with some of the #'s -
Radiator: Still has Harrison tag; should be BO code. Wheels: 3/18 (March 18) JA - all 5 match Carb: 7028273 XX 0159 (Jan 15, 1969) Heads: 48's, dated B269 (Feb 26, 1969) Intake: 9794234, C179 (March 17, 1969) Tranny: P9C10A - P is Muncie, 9 is 1969, C is March, 10 is 10th Day, A is M20. Rear Axle: 9795084 casting, XH code, heavy duty Safe-T-Track (nodular housing, forged axles, 4 pinion diff) with 3.55 gears. The left of the stamped XH is an "86" - 86th day of 1969 - March 27. 2 1/2 weeks before the build date. Axle code XH and 86 to the left of that (86th day of 1969 or March 27). With one exception (one JA wheel that I scrounged) these are the parts that were on the car when I bought it. Dates line up nicely for a 04B car. Scott

I have to agree with you guys.
My feelings are that "numbers" means factory block numbers match the vin numbers on car. Anything beyond that is a bonus...

I might also include the transmission since the VIN is there too.
Beyond that, other correct parts can normally be found. Some of them can be very hard to find, but it is possible.

Thanks!
Although there was Champagne too, which I believe is probably one of the rarest Judge colors out there (and maybe GTO colors too). |

I like the way of not representing it as "numbers matching CORRECT" which some confuse with "numbers matching original". Corvette guys get the blame for that approach, usually.
The first is a dealer mentality. |
