Anyone have dyno sheets of Turbo engines they are willing to share normally aspirated? I would like to have some similar engines pulled NA to compare? We are CNC ported, single 4, 9 to one, 535 with 2 inch headers?

no dyno sheet - but the car ran a 10.10 at 2600 lb -- with no turbos - ( they broke) so what ever the calculators say - I have guesed 675 to 725 -

you could be right - I was going off of memory from 3 years ago - but when I "back into it" with the calculators using aprox HP and boost numbers - it usually comes in around 700 is NA

If I remember correctly, we made 681 hp naturally aspirated when we broke the motor in on the dyno. 2886 hp at 44 psi. 482 inches. So I would say that Curt's estimate for his engine is quite close.

NOT a street engine - -9.2 cr with wideports flowing 380, spring pressure is 410 on the seat with 2 in primaries lift is over 700 and duration in the 270 -280 range, 525 cid and depending on how I winter - 2650 to 2700 lb with DFI. Our numbers say we are at aprox 1900 hp at 24lb boost - and that corilates to 6.60 with a 2700 lb car - as we are ramping in boost - we are making less than that early - and prob more than that at the top.

I just did a couple different calculators and they say that at 2700lb and 215 mph it is at 2100 to 2200 HP thru the traps.

Sorry if I missed it, what size Turbos?
This engine is mostly built for durability with all Billet stuff. It should have over 100 PSI oil pressure for longevity. The cam is only 252@050. It will drive like a cadillac. We only have 280 on the seat for springs. My theory is that with the cross-section of the RAVs will help the Turbos do their work.

Twin "hybrid" 88s and be carefull with the oil -- with it so high it really loads the drive components -- and if you have Ball Bearing turbos - -they dont like it and as was stated befor - 280 on the seat becomes 200 on the seat at 20lb of boost - just saying

my 535 with 8.5-1 compression and e heads by sd perf that flow 330 on intake made 600 hp on the motor only. 1 7/8" headers, solid roller with .600 lift and i believe .278 / .282 @ .050 dur. i have dyno sheet also but id need to find it and take a pic. needless to say i need bigger heads and cam to run the number i want lol

Yes, we use SCE copper gaskets and stainless orings. The engine has seen 90 passes plus dyno pulls with the same head gaskets. The first few hits we made, we took it easy, but after the first time or two, we went straight to 40+ psi. I think we are close to out of turbo at 48 to 50 psi. I wish I could make 55. Lol.
It's really hard to make a 2700+ pound car go 4.0's without sticking some air in it. Our secret is that we never pull the boost back. If we want less power, we will run it richer or take timing out. There are some rare occasions that we dial back the boost in some areas of the track (Norwalk 2010 was one of those occasions), but it's rare. TQ |

i have a 535 pontiac with cometics and arp studs. i have had issues with the heads lifting when i get around 20 psi of boost. when i check the studs they are loose... i have retorqued the heads many times and it seems the center stud that runs through the center 2 exhaust ports is always the loosest . followed by the outer bolts that run through the outer exhaust ports.... i guess im trying to figure out if they are just stretching or working their way loose . i torqued them right before the last race i went to and it seemed ok but really how many times do i need to retorque em before they stay? i assume your motor is dry decked? maybe i should o ring it and be done ... id be thrilled if i could get 25- 30 psi out of mine id be running 8's in a 4100lb car weeee!!!!!!!!

dry decked, yes. We also run no water in the engine, alcohol for fuel.
I bet your issue is detonation. I have seen that loosen up the head studs before. Could also be something else. Which heads? |
