I don't want to burst your bubble but when I graduated in 65 there were a lot of nice cars but the Vietnam War and the draft was a big consideration for most of us. When everyone got back from Nam everyone bought the fastest car at the dealership. Didn't have time to wait and order a car. Money was still a worry and raising families wasn't cheap then either. It seems like there is more disposable income now. We didn't go out to eat but about once or twice a month. FWIW

I would probably enjoy a 1970 GTO Judge RAIV, or perhaps a 1970 Trans Am RA IV, if I chose a Pontiac. A GS455 Stage 1 or Hemi Superbird wouldn't be bad, either. I definitely wouldn't have chosen my first car, which was a 1970 Austin America, given to me by my grandparents in 1986 after getting my driver's license.

You are really limiting my choices! OK 1949, I am not a fan of the 49 Pontiacs, don't like the chrome runway down the center of the hood. If I must make a 1 car to drive from 1949, Ford coupe with the flathead V-8.

I own it A 1966 Grand Prix Aqua marine on Aqua marine 421 HO Auto loaded with reclining pass Bucket seat. I grew up in that car. Bought it a month after my dad died in 2005. It is Identical to his. Use to ride on top of the arm rest in the back seat as a kid so I could see over the ac vent on top of the dash pad. Many good memories.

So I guess I'd pick either a 91 911 turbo, or a Diablo, or an Audi S2, or a 190e Cosworth, or even an E30 M3.
