Steering column changes
Experts: easy questions for ya...What year did the spline shaft change to the cross bolt on the column connection? Furthermore what year did the dimmer move to the column? I am wanting column dimmer - w/tilt in my 74- would the dash harness out of a later model- say 78 or so be compatible or would that also bring in other changes in the harness that I need to consider? (Non ac car)

I believe 78 was the last year of the floor dimmer, but not sure when the spline change happened.

79-81 had the dimmer on the column.
Last year for splined column is 78 for most GM models. |
