Default headliner install ?

This is for a 1957 wagon. The factory instructions say to 'cement and stay-tack headlining material'. Then remove all fullness and 'draws' before permanently tacking material in place.

Does anyone know of a modern equiv to 'stay-tack'? I have the headliner in the bows, centered and just hanging there. I was going to start with the staple gun but I like the idea of temporary then adjust.

Thumb tacks?

TIA,
