Replacing Fuel Tank Sending Unit on 66 2+2
Hey guys,
I need to replace my fuel tank sending unit on my 2+2. Does anyone know which one I need? When I look up what part I need, the part always looks like this http://www.pysales.com/images/gmr93a.jpg. But the sending unit is different on my car, it resembles this one more http://www.pysales.com/images/gmr92.jpg, but this one is for a later year. Can anyone help? |

Judging by the difference in the output tube, at first glance I would order by what yours resembles. BUT, why not call PY and talk tech? Or post this inquiry here: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...play.php?f=473 |

GMR92 is certainly a lot closer to what a 66 2+2 will need...the sending unit is on top, and slightly forward of center of the tank, with about 1.5" space between top of tank and trunk floor. So you want the unit that has the fuel line angled 90 degrees.
Other considerations are pickup tube length, and of course the resistance range of the fuel level sending unit, 0-90 ohms.

Use Jack Marcheski in CA to rebuild yours. He is real good, quick service and he did mine for a 66 Bonne for $75 plus shipping about 5 years ago. I bet his price is not too much higher now. Here is contact info:

Thanks guys for all the help. I was leaking some gas and I thought the sending unit had gone bad. Turned out that the hose from the sending unit to the main line had a small pin sized hole. I am still going to send the unit in though because the gas gauge does not work in the car and I know that is the sending unit in this case.
