Ill set the DS Head stud aside for you.
I think you miscounted on the grille bolts, theres 12 I believe. You mentioned the 8 on the brackets, 4 of each type ( part numbers elude me at the moment) There is bolts inside the grille going up. same bolts as the upper "L"bracket . I can get them if needed.
I think I have the water pump bolts for that fan clutch to pump as well. They are in a bag, not on a car will be a couple days to dig them out. The correct clutch bolts are on the clutch, which may be usable after the "Purple!"
Found the correct lower core support bolts and a few correct washers. have to dig further for that funky nut. Probably get it with the bumper mount hardware off a car soon.
You may have time to play with the fan and some hardware before PY show, you should have a package on WED.
When your car is done I want to get a "new" reproduction of the GM press release photo which was in black and white with your car. should be easy. The Gm car was red.
I have the original press release that came with the black and white pic, released for newsprint
Note '71 Mirror & No trim rings, probably because they couldnt get the suckers on the wheels!

Thanks for all the fastener assistance. Yup, there are 12 grill bolts. I forgot about the four that hold the L bracket to the nose. The clutch to water pump bolts are those weird looking castellated headed bolts if I recall correctly.

Neat photo. Note that it also has the steel valance as well. The polyethylene valance must have broken on the way to the photo shoot.

No trim rings 'cause those are the 15" Honeys, which were unavailable with rings until the 1973 model year.

Oh, and that's a Sundance Orange Formy, BTW.

Bruce, offering parts already with Lock Tight on them is getting a little out of hand. Steve, they are spoiling you BAD BRO!

Maybe we should all pitch in and buy a car and re-do it to sell it on-line? With all the knowledge and parts we could offer a great product for sure. Heck it could support a web-site, race car, party or something to interest us all???
Just a thought who's in?

Hey Bruce - I hope you don't think that I was bustin' your chops. I certainly didn't mean it that way, my friend.

Not at all, I didnt know that, my 72 TA came with 2 trim rings LOL I never looked into it, and recently went to put my NOS ones on and it was a royal pain.
Funny though, my shell is a '73 anyways, guess Im somewhat off the hook LOL
Your Formy and Steve's and others on here with F455 cars is the model I used to build mine. Now I wish I had kept the factory AC, but it was pretty sun cooked and not much left. Someday Ill ride in someones WITH AC on hehe

I am more than happy to give a ride (including air conditioning) to all who assisted in the restoration. (Just not all at the same time) :-)

Yesterday I did a quick mask and respray with the SEM Landau Black on the original Formula wheel. This wheel is the best one I've seen in years. I guess the lack of sun in the Great White North, never got a chance to roast the foam. I came out really nice.

Today, I stopped by the local locksmith to see if they could get me an original GM ignition key cylinder. The owner walked into the basement and came up five minutes later with an NOS GM piece. The ignition key/cylinder in the car was an aftermarket replacement put in in the 1980s when the car was broken into and they tried to steal it, but only succeeded in breaking the ignition switch. The aftermarket key switch didn't have an accessory position - a common problem I have encountered over the years with the crappy knockoff parts. While I had the wheel off I swapped out the ignition key cylinder in the column. It went rather smoothly. (other than reassembling it twice since I first reassembled it without the horn ring under the lockplate)

After that I bolted on the original rear bumper guards that the car was ordered with when new. The prior owner had them rechromed years ago and never got a chance to reinstall them.

I was able to locate a replacement power door lock actuator down in Florida from the contact that FormulaBruce posted, along with a rebuilt clock, so those items should be coming soon. That door lock solenoid is one bizarre piece and rather hard to find, it seems.

Honeycomb trim rings are the WORST to install without damage, besides maybe the original style Rally II center caps, LOL!

BTW, you do recall that MY Formy is originally a 400 car, right?

Looks good Steve, How tight did those rear bumper guards fit? I got a pair, and they are really tight, almost worried they are going to scratch the chrome bumper when I bolt them on.

I have to get used to the bumper guards. My old TA had them, I still have them somewhere. Its a whole new look for the back end.
On older Camaros the rear guards indicated a F41 suspension. Your car is one of a kind!
Steve, surprised you didn't get into the "wrinkle" paint ( hub) while the wheel was off?

Actually I did. I had a nice 1974-76? era hub sitting in the garage with the wrinkle paint intact. I put that one on the car for the moment. The one thing I noticed was that the 1972 hub on the car was 1/8" longer than the spare hub I had. Anyone know if this was a later change? I will be rewrinkling the original hub and putting it back on eventually. The problem with that wrinkle paint is that it takes so darn long for the smell to go away. I'll reshoot the hub and let it air out for a couple months.

I was wondering about those guards as well. I have a set that I bought that are supposed to be off a Firebird...they look like the ones above, but when I went to mount them onto the bar in the correct spot, there is no way they are going to fit..the profile of the cutout is off. Mine has the original rear bar on it.
I'm wondering if 2nd gen Camaro guards (which look similar) are actually slightly different in profile, and thats what I've got?

The fender vent stripe was a 1971-only, stripe. I dont think the upper fender/door stripe started until 1973.
