There is no paint on it, only a thin black primer, not even a gelcoat.

The underside will be the closest to factory new of any you will ever see. Just blow some overspray on there when you do the edging and leave it!
Great work Steve!

I will be at PY's open house for the 3rd year in a row and will check out your car if I see it.

Hood in progress. The painter sent me these cell phone shots from earlier this week. He said the hood is much nicer than he thought and only need minor work. (Fingers crossed). The main areas that need smoothing are the seams where the lower part of the scoop joins the upper part, along each side. There was a noticeable bonding seam.

Of course with an NOS hood and what you paid, there shouldn't be ANY work.
I owe you a beer or two at the open house.

Boss,
Who knows, the hood may actually be done by then. BTW, I forgot to ask when I was at your place but do you have a straight, rear bumper core that is suitable for replating? I have a great, local chrome plater but he doesn't fix dents and Tricity has a 2 or 3 month wait. The one on my car has a dent where the bumper guard was backed into...and when I had it off last week I noticed that it had a Frankenstein stitch weld on the backside, where it was sectioned together from 2 bumpers. |

Unfortunately, no.

There really isn't a gelcoat on it. Just something resembling thin coat of black primer. The top surface of the hood is injection molded compound while the underside look more like traditional fibreglass with the visible strands (especially in the front area where the screens slide in).

What was that old line from Bob Seger in Night Moves? "Points way up firm and high"?
