My dad picked up this car a few days ago after finding it on craigslist. An older gentleman who owned a salvage yard was trying to get rid of some cars sitting on his property due to his age. He raced this car a few times here in Oklahoma after he rolled his previous second gen camaro race car. At least this car was driven and wasn't crushed!

It still has a 400 motor with 670 heads and what appears to be the original iron intake manifold. Unfortunately someone removed the carburetor and the chrome valve covers and mice have made it their home!!! The drivers door is welded shut and the doors, hood, and trunk lid have all of the inner structure removed. To install the roll cage they cut the roof off and then welded it back on and its a little crooked. It's hard to think that this was once a brand new car... The original paint was silver glaze with a black painted top which you can still see under a flaking red repaint. I wish I lived in the generation when these cars were cheap enough to chop up!

Ok that's different. I say get the 400 running again, give it an 'Animal House' paint job, and maybe a couple of flame throwers out back.

Does this mean the dataplate is still intact? I wonder if you'll find the VIN still attatched to the driver's door jam. Would be novelty interesting to get the PHS on it.

It still has the data plate and the vin! I just started decoding it for him tonight... I'm not as quick with gto's(this is our 1st gto) because we mostly have had firebirds in the family. It's really cool to see something different show up at the house.

I honestly can't remember what track, but I don't believe he said anything about muskogee. I'll have to check to see if dad remembers anything about it.

Thanks! I've been lurking around here for a while and though this was an interesting find. At the moment it will be collecting dust due to other projects that are more "restorable". All week we have been talking about different ideas for it... I know it will eventually move under its own power again and it definitely won't visit a dirt track.
The seller said it had a th400, but I haven't looked at it yet and the rear end is a non posi pontiac of some sort. I haven't found any identification tags on it yet.
