Thank you everyone for your patience. I hope, like most good things, they are worth the wait! Speaking of waiting for the right moment to install a quality set of stripes, here's an email I received recently with an order request: "Greg, I'd love a stripe and decal kit for my '71 white TA. I had it partially restored and painted a few years ago (yeah, it's been naked for that long) but held off putting on stripes because I'd heard that all the aftermarket product was not up to spec. Please let me know how I can expedite a shipment of your good stuff." It's notes like this that reminds me how worthwhile this effort was not just for myself but for the hobby!

The stripe kits are in! YEAH.
I have to say these stripes and letters are gorgeous. All dimensionally correct, contour cut, with the perfect clear reveal around the pin stripe. I packaged many of the kits from the pre-production orders last night. They will be in the mail on Wednesday. Thank you everyone for your patience. Blue stripes:

I received mine in the mail Friday! Now all I have to do is find the thread that tells me how to get the glue off the hood from the old stripe.

Here's a product... You really can't go wrong with a Griot's product: http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...sive%20remover I wonder if Goof Off would be too strong? Also, 3M makes an adhesive remover. Your local sign supply company would probably have that in stock: http://3mcollision.com/products/clea...ver-08908.html I should carry these on the website

Lighter fluid for a cigarette lighters works great! But it's really just naphtha.

Sales of the stripe kits are still real steady. Thank you everyone who is purchasing kits, inquiring or referencing others who need them. I am very appreciative of everyone's interest.
I can't wait to start seeing installation pictures from those who have purchased kits. Speaking of that, I am meeting a Forum member in Austin tomorrow (July 4) to install a white kit on a blue car. We'll post install pics later this week.

Formula400 is restoring a very original and correct white '70 RAIV TA with what may be original stripes on the car. I have previously posted comparison photos of NOS stripes with the production kits. Here are some comparison photos of an original set that has been installed on a car since new.
It's nice to see the original trunk and spoiler pin stripe and overall width actually lined up.... and it's nice to know these do too ![]() It's also nice to see a full 1/8" thick perimeter pin stripe and equal clear reveal to the edge of the stripe.

Here's some pics of the kit install on the car in Austin this morning. We lost our shade mid morning and it started getting a little warm so we didn't complete the letters or nose bird.
Installation tips: Begin with a concour correct TransAmStripes.net stripe kit.... Ha.. had to get that in ![]() A. Install the stripes in a cool dry location. As in our case, the sun caught up to us and we couldn't finish. B. Use RapidTac. I can't say enough good things about this product. Turns a tricky project into a smooth one. C. Use a seamstress tape to center the stripes. Easy to use and easy on the paint. D. Use a grease pencil to create match marks for positioning the decal on the car. Blue tape is ok to temporarily hold the stripe while your positioning but comes off with the application fluids. E. Squeegee the fluids and air out of the stripe working from the middle to the edge methodically, covering all of the stripe, first lightly, then firmly. F. When removing the transfer paper, do not lift up on the paper. Instead pull it back low across the surface. This will prevent the stripe from lifting from the car. G. Overrun in the shaker opening: You can ensure proper alignment of the shaker overrun by viewing and positioning the shaker opening from the underside of the hood. After the hood stripe is installed, there should be an equal overrun of stripe around the shaker opening. Prior to completing application of the shaker opening overrun, move the car into the sunlight to warm the stripe. The heat will naturally curl the overrun down towards the shaker opening. As the stripe warms up and curls, it can be easily fitted into the shaker opening. A spritz of RapidTac or detergent/water solution will help with this fitment. The result should be a wrinkle free, clean application of the stripe overrun into the shaker opening. H. If a bubble appears, be patient, and after completing the install, move the car into the sun and let the stripes rest. As the stripes heat up, the bubbles will shrink, and can be carefully pushed down or out with your fingers. Do no try to force the bubbles to the edge after you have a good seal on the adhesive. As a last resort, a pin prick will release any trapped air or fluids. With all that said, here's a helpful video also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMo2A...are_video_user Good luck everyone with their installs!

That looks so incredible.....
I don't yet if the stripes have a curl in them when they are delivered but PG and GM always do because they have been in a tube. I have always put the stripes between 2 pcs of cardboard in order to flatten them before an install. |

Craig, the stripes are delivered in a tube, but I will say they stay stored flat and in a cool, dry place when they are here. I only roll them into a tube when an order is placed. So they should spend minimal time in a tube (shipping time only) and should lay flat without help when you get them. Let me know if that's the case when you receive yours.
